PGR was established in 1984 as a family business, working out of a singular unit in Laindon, Essex, cutting timber to order for customers in the local area. Since then, it has seen
substantial growth and expansion and now operates from multiple sites throughout the Essex and Surrey area.
In January 2024, it opened PGR+, a distribution centre tailored exclusively for building materials, at Stadium Way, Rayleigh. The distribution centre significantly expands stock holding across all branches, with materials available within 72 hours.

Although it is now a bathroom specialist and plumbers merchant, Robert Pochin was founded as an ironmongers on Granby Street, Leicester in 1860 and has spent the last 160 years expanding both organically and via acquisition. In the last few years, it has acquired Mike Lodge Plumbing and Heating Merchant, opened branches in Newark, Arnold, Cannock, Derby and Lincoln and acquired NS Plumbing and Heating Supplies and Martin & Partners of Northampton.
