Founded in 1990 from a single branch in Gaerwen, Anglesey, Huws Gray has rapidly expanded over the past 30 years, through organic growth and acquisitions. This includes East Anglian independent Ridgeons in 2018, and Grafton Group’s UK

merchanting operation in 2021, as well as smaller independent merchant businesses. In 2025, the group launched a major rebrand, aimed at bringing together all the brands and businesses acquired over the years under one, simple logo and brand.

April 2026 A supplement to builders merchants journal

Spearheaded by chief commercial officer Adrian Wallington and the Huws Gray leadership team, the new branding features a vibrant colour scheme, and four building blocks, arranged into a vague star shape.

This, CEO Daksh Gupta said at

the time, reflects the aim of “unit- ing our people behind the North Star in terms of the Huws Gray mission”.

The new branding was initally rolled out digitally, with upgrades to transport and building fascias following in due course.

group in the south of the UK with the merger of Grant & Stone Group and IBMG. While it retained many of the local merchanting brands across its buisness, it operates as one integrated company led by a single management team. Its reach extends from Cornwall to Kent and comprises builders’ merchants, kitchen and bathroom

showrooms, roofing merchants, a timber processing site, and a dedicated e-commerce buisness. In May 2025, it launched a financial and operational restructuring programme across 13 of its merchant brands, to recapitalise the group, and reduce debts. The restructuring plans were approved by the UK Court at a sanction hearing held
