Boys & Boden began as a sawmill in Staffordshire, moving to the British sawmils site in Welshpool in 1917, closer to Montgomeryshire’s oaks and with railway and canal access. It became a fully fledged builders merchant by 1980, and now provides for both large scale jobs and DIY products. The company has a variety of specialist sites including its Chester showroom and DIY superstore. Its subsidiary, Pear Stairs, is a manufacturer and supplier of bespoke staircases.
