Le Creuset is celebrating its remarkable centenary – a hundred years of shaping  cookware. Housewares Magazine caught up with George Mann, National Account Manager at Le Creuset UK

n 2025, Le Creuset celebrates a remarkable achievement: one hundred years of colourful cookware, iconic design, and unwavering craftsmanship. From its founding in a small French foundry in 1925


to becoming a globally recognised kitchenware brand, the journey has  around the world. “It’s not every day you get to say you’re turning 100 years old,” says


George Mann, National Account Manager at Le Creuset UK. “So there’s a lot we have coming up to commemorate such a huge milestone. The importance of our products in long-standing traditions, the legacy of our brand, the wonderful communities of Le Creuset fans—we will be celebrating it all. Keep an eye out for all the exciting ways we’ll be bringing our centenary year to life.”


From the start


The brand’s story began with a single innovation: colourful enamelled cast iron cookware. This was revolutionary at a time when kitchenware was typically dull, practical, and purely utilitarian. Le Creuset turned  brand’s most recognisable shade—brought warmth and vibrancy to an otherwise cold and neutral kitchen landscape. “Its introduction managed to transform cookware from something solely owned for practicality into statement items which also oozed style,” says Mr Mann. “From there, we

ran with the idea that colour should be integral to the kitchen, launching over 200 since 1925. It’s since allowed people to express themselves and their identity through their interiors, especially in the central hub of the home.” Over the years, Le Creuset has built on this colourful foundation


by broadening its product ranges. “While we originally launched with our colourful Enamelled Cast Iron, over the years we have introduced additional categories, including Toughened Non Stick and 3-Ply Stainless Steel, to cater for all culinary needs,” Mr Mann explains. “We then entered the tableware scene with the introduction of crockery, glassware, and accessories. For us, cookware isn’t just a practicality— it’s a passion, a product to help make delicious meals and bring people together, and we want to be able to provide that for our customers.” Today, Le Creuset cookware sits at the intersection of function and


beauty. Whether it’s a casserole passed down through generations or a newly released pan that graces a wedding registry, these items are more than just tools—they’re companions in the kitchen, steeped in memory  performance, always looking for ways to delight its customers. “We’re always looking for ways to improve our products and ensure they stand  in the cookware space, we are bringing some very exciting items to market.”
