• Morphy Richards spent a total of £1.5 million on two TV advertising campaigns to support its cordless multi-tool Go Blend Whisk Slice and Filter Rapide water filter kettle over the pre-Christmas period.
• Tefal extended its partnership with celebrity chef Jamie Oliver with the launch of the Jamie Oliver Professional Series of Hard Anodized Cookware and the Jamie Oliver Professional Series of Advanced Silicone Bakeware. The company invested a total of £2 million on two Christmas TV advertising campaigns for its Jamie Oliver Professional Series cookware and tools and the Vitamin Plus electric steamer.
• Housewares Magazine’s Mystery Shopper visited Norwich and voted Loose’s Cookshop and John Lewis as the joint winners of a survey of the Norfolk city’s housewares retailers. They beat Jarrold department store, Kitchenary cookshop and Roys variety store for their breadth of range, and staff’s welcoming approach and product knowledge.
• WonderBake UK, a specialist in the sales and marketing of bakeware and related goods, and Dunnetts, a bakeware manufacturer with over 100 years’ experience, joined forces.
• Home shopping retailer Kleeneze planned to invest £4 million over two years to start up a home shopping channel: Eezee TV.
• Scanpan frypans, Herold coffee stencils, Stellar hard anodised cookware, Circulon frypans, Judge Vista saucepan sets and Wusthof knives were the best-selling housewares products at The Cook’s Companion in Powys, The White Rooms in Knaresborough, Kitchen Kiosk in Aldershot, Formby Hardware & Cookshop in Lancashire, Wright Home Hardware in Helensburgh and Ellis Bros in Rye respectively.
