Christmas can be a difficult time for many, so a hamper with a few luxury items can make a huge difference. It includes a small Christmas cake, tea, coffee, jam and biscuits, among other things. Some prefer to have a voucher for their local market, especially those with dietary issues. We can also help with advice and guidance on debt which, as we all know, can become worse over Christmas. Wrap that up with our telephone counselling service and I think that we are able to give a strong level of support for people who may be struggling. As the industries that we support try to cope with the political chaos around Brexit, we hear from more and more people as they face reduced hours or redundancy. For the majority, Christmas is a time of fun and giving. But for many, it’s a different picture altogether. We can be there for them, giving direct help or advice and information on how to cope. With mental health starting to get the headlines that it needs, we can help people through a tough time. We are your charity, helping your people.

There are auction lots of all shapes and sizes,


from a Santa Cookie Jar with cookies, a box of beer glasses and beer selection, Gin glasses and gin and a gas barbecue, right through to a week away in a holiday home in Pembrokeshire. Winning bidders are notified the next day if the reserve is reached and, if not, that auction lot will carry forward until won. All of the lots will be posted each day on the Rainy Day Trust Twitter and Facebook feeds, so follow to make sure that you don’t miss out on

The Rainy Day Trust operates across three sectors (builders merchants, DIY & hardware and housewares & tabletop) which have a combined turnover of more than £50 billion and employ close to 500,000 people.


It is the only charity which exists solely


to help people who have worked in these industries, including DIY shops, hardware stores, builders merchants, garden centres, cookshops, and all the manufacturers, distributors and retailers in the UK that supply them. The Rainy Day Trust grew out of two


benevolent funds for the industry with roots back to 1843, and now offers a range of services to retail and supplier employees - from a regular cash payment to white goods and house repairs.

• Hotpoint announced a multi-million pound deal with celebrity cook and TV presenter Lisa Faulkner. The winner of ‘Celebrity MasterChef’ 2010 signed up for a two-year partnership with the brand to promote its premium built-in appliances and new range of small appliances via a seven-figure above the line campaign.


• Hollywood star George Clooney returned to light up small screens in the latest Nespresso advertising campaign, which also featured French actor Jean Dujardin. For the first time ever, the TV ad was unveiled in Ireland, supporting Nespresso’s objective to grow awareness with Irish consumers.


• The Pantone Colour Institute named Marsala - ‘a naturally robust and earthy wine red’ inspired shade - as its 2015 Colour of the Year.


• Multichannel retailer Argos teamed up with Transport for London (TfL) to launch its first underground store, at Cannon Street tube station.


• On the front cover is the Oracle, described by Beam Group as ‘the world’s first automatic manual espresso machine that brings true café quality to your home without a barista’.

• KitchenCraft topped the top ten suppliers’ league of Housewares Magazine’s Best of Best Sellers 2014 survey, followed by Eddingtons, Horwood, Dexam, KitchenAid, CKS, Robert Welch Designs, Haus, Rex International and Brabantia. The rankings were based on the frequency of mentions in Housewares Magazine’s regular ‘Best Sellers’ feature.
