GRIPPLE
Gripple’s Fast Trak is designed for faster, easier installation of many mechanical and electrical services. A pre-fabricated, trapeze bracket, Fast Trak enables fl exible and safe installation of electrical containment, ductwork, pipework and other mechanical services. It off ers tool-free adjustment, and is an ideal solution for instances where ceiling
space is less than 800mm. It comprises metal tracks, from 284mm to 534mm in length, accompanied by mounting brackets, from 309mm to 959mm long, and is designed to suit diff ering installations in residential buildings, high-rise offi ce blocks, hotels, hospitals, open retail spaces or transportation hubs. Each track and bracket system can suspend a maximum weight up to 180kg with a 3:1 safety factor to deliver all the strength of a rod system with added fl exibility and ease of use. Fast Trak systems are delivered to site in pre-cut lengths.

Lochinvar has extended its Amicus range of air source heat pumps by launching fi ve higher capacity models. There are now 17 models in the range, delivering heating capacities from 7.7kW up to 210kW. Lochinvar is therefore able to service a range of projects including large residential, medium and large commercial, and industrial applications.
The Amicus heat pump range employs the principle of Enhanced Va- pour Injection (EVI) to improve output and effi ciency, and the units are 25% more effi cient than standard scroll compressor driven systems. They can be used as stand-alone replacements for conventional heat- ing products or as part of an integrated system. Amicus pumps also have an electronic soft start option capable of extending the operating life of the equipment. potential. In addition to being a viable option for new build projects, they are also easy to retrofi t to existing buildings.

KINGSPAN
Kingspan’s Kooltherm FM Complete Pipe Insulation System and Kooltherm FM Duct Insulation have been installed as part of Coventry University’s fl agship scientifi c teaching and research building, contributing to its BREEAM ’Excellent’ rating and delivering a high level of fi re resistance performance through intumescent lined Kingspan Kooltherm FireSleeves. These can act as a 2-hour fi re stop to BS EN 1366 Part 3 on steel
and copper pipe service penetrations through block wall applications. Kingspan Kooltherm FM Pipe and Duct Insulation have been assigned a 2008 Green Guide Summary Rating of A+ by the BRE. Kingspan Kooltherm FM Pipe Insulation has also been awarded a best-in-class Eurofi ns Indoor Air Comfort Gold certifi cate as an outstanding material according to VOC Indoor Air Quality emissions standards.

NORTEK
With the ErP Directive coming into force on January 1 2018, Nortek Global HVAC explains what it means for radiant heaters. All radiant tube heaters and tube heater systems will need a minimum seasonal effi ciency of 74% and NOx emissions no more than 200mg/kWh input. These criteria are applicable to both new installations and when replacing existing products. The Ecodesign regulation (EU) 2015/1188 and implementing Directive 2009/125/EC is an EU policy to improve energy effi ciency for energy-related products (ErP) such as gas fi red overhead radiant tube heaters. Products have been divided into ‘Lots’ with gas fi red overhead radiant tube heaters, tube heater systems, and gas fi red luminous plaque heaters within Lot 20. Gas fi red radiant heaters and some other commercial heating appliances are excluded from mandatory energy labelling under Regulation 2015/1186 as they are directly planned and purchased by HVAC professionals. However, product literature and websites of manufacturers must indicate seasonal effi ciency and NOx emissions.

GILBERTS
Property developer Quora faced an issue with its three-storey development in Lewes’ town centre: balancing airfl ow for the large amount of plant needed alongside aesthetics. Gilberts devised an innovative solution for Quora’s contractor, Jessops Construction: the design and manufacture of a site-assembled louvre screen, 19m long x 1.8m high, fi xed in place
using a BigFoot innovative, non-penetrative support, on the single ply fl at roof below. Gilberts’ WGK75 integrated louvre system is purpose- designed for site assembly, to address complex structural interfaces. It features 1.6mm clip-on blades that deliver a 50% free ventilation area to the plant behind. Gilberts’ John Hanger said: “Using our WGK75 inverted, mitred blades with cranked ends, set at a 75mm pitch and 45 degree angle, protects the plant from excessive weather ingress whilst ensuring an adequate fl ow of fresh air.”

MHG
MHG Gassero Wallcon gas-fi red condensing boilers are providing space heating for a new sports centre at Bryanston School in Dorset. The three 160kW boilers are serving underfl oor heating and radiant panels. Bryanston occupies a large country house near the town of Blandford Forum. The school has recently re-developed its sports centre, where the new heating has been installed. A key requirement of the system was the ability to respond effi ciently to varying occupancy levels in the sports centre. The radiant panels are confi gured in zones, whilst the cascade confi guration of the boilers, combined with modulating burners, ensures effi cient performance at all loads. The MHG Gassero Wallcon boilers and components were pre-assembled onto a matched mounting frame system which was slid into position in the plant room.
