When Helen Lawson’s old Alpha boiler came to the end of its life, she wanted to replace it with another Alpha and opted for the E-Tec combi boiler. Energy effi ciency was a priority for the customer so the company’s E-Tec 28kW output was selected. Delivering up to 12.1 litres of water per minute, it features a stainless-steel heat exchanger which is
highly resistant to corrosion. In addition, the heat exchanger has wide waterways and a highly effi cient Grundfos pump, allowing mains water to be heated up quickly for constant delivery of hot water. With the installer in mind, the E-Tec combi is lightweight and simple
to fi t. It is the smallest model within the domestic combi range, and comes with a backlit LCD display and push button controls, so that operation is as straightforward as possible for the homeowner.

CIAT has expanded its range to include DX air conditioners. The Stella high-wall split system off ers reversible operation under inverter control, Wi-Fi enabled control, and monitoring. The Mambo small commercial range of fl oor- standing console air conditioners features full inverter control and reversible heat pump operation. The units are fl exible, with two air outlets and four air inlets. CIAT’s new Salsa cassette heat pump air conditioner has a 360 degree air-fl ow design to ensure even temperature distribution, without draughts. The new slim CIAT ducted range off ers nominal cooling capacities from 3.52kW to 15.54kW and heating from 3.8kW to 17.6kW. It is fully reversible with in-built inverter control. Finally, CIAT’s multi-split outdoor condensing units come with options capable of serving between two and fi ve indoor units.

Axair Fans has introduced a new addition to its EC Technology range. The high power EC V8 motor is a new external rotor motor with input power up to 300W, manufactured by Ecofi t.
For existing customers, the V8 motor replaces the L4 motor, with the advantage of higher power at lower speed enabling a better overall effi ciency.
Previously, the external rotor motor collection consisted of the G9 with input power to 150W, and L4 models enabling a motor power rating up to 250W.
The new addition increases the options available from the Ecofi t range to 300W with an added built in feature that enables our customers to maintain constant pressure and constant volume depending on individual project requirements.

ELCO Heating Solutions has launched the TRIGON XL WH – a new condensing direct gas-fi red water heater capable of instantaneously supplying large volumes of hot water in commercial applications. The range comprises seven models with outputs from 150kW to 570kW, with each version off ering effi ciencies up to 110%, robust
performance and NOx emissions as low as 34mg/kWh. AQUATECH
Aquatech Pressmain was asked to assist Warwick University and its consulting engineers, Couch Perry Wilkes, in solving an issue with pressurising the university campus heating system.
The challenge was to pressurise the system using two sealed system pressurisation units, in two plant rooms
located on opposite sides of the system - something quite unusual, but essential to the university team to provide system redundancy in the event of maintenance downtime of either plant room. Taking into consideration ordinance diff erences in the location of the two pressurisation units, each unit was set up with diff erent pressure diff erentials in the controls systems, in order to balance the system, and then commissioned back into service. Peter Smith, energy centre manager said: “I am delighted with the outcome.”
