AT NETWORK CASE STUDY


Anew apartment block will benefit froman energy-efficient district heating system thanks to 183 HIUs and more than 800 dynamic TRVs fromAltecnic.


Low heating demand inmodern apartmentsmeans that only a very small flow rate of hot water is required on the heating circuit. This makes it difficult to balance radiators, so risks a high space heating return temperature (RT) being passed back onto the network, reducing efficiency.


Altecnic worked with the contractor to maximise the difference in temperature between the flow and RT (Delta T) on each apartment ’s space heating circu its.


ATK32103 HIUs equipped with RT Limitation (RTL)means the HIU can control its output to ensure that the pre-set primary RT ismet.Meaning that each apartment is efficiently heated and that the overall network is protected from failure.


Using DYNAMICAL® TRVs, it is possible to pre-set the maximum flow rate for each radiator before installation regardless of changes in pressure on system. This ensures that the required flow is never exceeded, the maximum heat output from the radiator is maximised and the subsequent RT to the HIU is kept low. Using SAT
