Test Equipment

Making electrical installation safer

David Sweetman, Marketing and Business Development Director at test equipment specialist Di-log, discusses test equipment and re-calibration, and answers some of the questions that are regularly asked by electrical wholesalers.

nstrument technology is having to advance rapidly, especially with today’s electronic IT equipment being used increasingly in the home and workplace. One of the most common problems is noise and interference on supplies, caused by IT and electronic equipment connected to domestic and commercial supplies. Di-log continuously works with its manufacturing base to overcome issues caused in the field which could inadvertently affect the accuracy of readings on your customers’ instruments. One of our latest developments is our new patented Non-trip Earth

Loop Test technology, RCD-LOC XLT (Xpert Loop Technology). In 2017, this innovative technology was introduced in our new Multifunction Tester, the DL9118 Installation Tester. RCD-LOC has completely eradicated any RCD uplift that can be caused when an RCD protection is fitted in a consumer unit, and also filters all noise within the instrument’s tolerances. So, what does this mean for you? Well, it means you can sell with confidence, knowing your customers have the latest testing technology at their fingertips.

Re-Cal Calibration was added to the group in 2004 to provide a service and calibration division to support the group and most importantly, provide an efficient customer focused calibration service to the electrical wholesale market. Re-Cal provides a fast and effective system with turnaround times

typically between 3-5 days and free collection via DPD offering real time tracking and mobile/email one hour slot delivery notifications.

Calibration Days combined with instrument focus breakfast mornings When test instruments are in constant use it can be disruptive to the electrician to send them back to the manufacturer for re-calibration. Re-Cal offers on-site calibration days, in conjunction with your Area Sales Manager.

Re-Cal on site at a calibration day. This offers the contractor a number of unique benefits. Instruments are DL9118 17atah/18th Edition Multifunction.

normally calibrated the same day, reducing down time. The cost of calibration is generally lower than instruments returned to base. The contractor has the opportunity to discuss any issues with their existing equipment and to look at new instruments which are being displayed by your Area Sales Manager.

More and more we hear horror stories of accidents and injuries sustained

as a result of faulty wiring or equipment and with society today adopting a somewhat blame and claim culture, the need for documentation to prove our own and our equipment’s performance is ever more important.
