eptember’s MICAM edition once again saw another successful initiative that every year launches 12 new talents from the world of footwear to showcase their collections. Emerging Designers was back with a selection of young creatives chosen, as per tradition, by a quality jury made up of fashion designers and MICAM representatives. The shortlist of 12 new talents was unique in terms of variety and quality of the footwear presented. From creatives presenting their first collection, to already partially established designers running a single-brand shop, up to entrepreneurs capable of proposing their creations to Hollywood stars, the choice of young people at the recent MICAM offered effervescent differences that allowed visitors to discover unique stories, experiences and experiments. Sustainability, attention to materials, comfort, durability and style are just some of the characteristics that make the collections presented special and special.
The Emerging Designers AKVO – Less is More – Daphne Wattiez Daphne trained between Milan and London and created a new concept of an entirely sustainable and avant-garde sandal: thus the AKVO brand was born for Summer 2024.
ARDEMIA – Sea Outside – Ardemia de’Gennaro
Ardemia began studying and creating between London, Milan, Aversa and Ibiza; this gave rise to her stylistic signature in the brand that bears her name, founded in 2017.
MEEKO – Summer Safari – Guillaume Mesly d’Arloz
A proposal of trainers, characterised by being particularly versatile, suitable to be worn in the chaotic and elegant Paris, as well as in the wild and evocative Borneo.
O.SUR – Ecodesign – Corine Ferrer The brand was born in 2020, inspired by Corine’s fascination with Mediterranean cultures and their expression in footwear, and the evolution they have undergone over the centuries.
BABÙ MILANO – Jardin Majorelle – Luisa Soriano
Luisa created her brand in 2022, inspired by her childhood and the slippers she used to wear at the home of her friend, now partner, Davide.
CB MADE IN ITALY – Intersection – Cecilia Bringheli/Sibilla de Vuono
From the first shoe made in 2010, Cecilia’s brand took shape and became a single-brand showroom in Milan. Sibilla, meanwhile, collaborates with numerous luxury fashion houses.
CRIMAGNO EARTH – Temptation Island – Cristiano Magnoni
Cristiano’s collection stands out for being versatile and gender-free, available in various materials and colours and completely recyclable and sustainable.
GIO* MILAN – Check Mate – Giacomo Morelli The brand was born out of the creation of a product that not only protected against the cold in Winter or the light in Summer, but also carried a unique authentic style.
PARISY – Turbo Mood – Francesca Parisi In 2023, the Parisy collection was launched, focusing on durability, comfort and sustainability. The brand recently opened its own e-commerce channel.
SABINIS – Simply Chic – Sabina Teruel Martinez
Born in Alicante, Spain where footwear tradition is reflected in the collection with its craftsmanship and style, with attention paid to the most sophisticated femininity.
SISTTA – The Difference is Beautiful – Alberto Tassinari/Francisco Batta With 15 years of experience, the two creatives joined forces to launch the SISTTA brand, an example of timeless elegance and combines their common vision.
SNEARK – Dangerous Bend – Lello Romano The Sneark brand features special trainers inspired by the 1980s, but with their own unique personality and strongly marked by sustainability thanks to the use of biodegradable materials.
