Sixth Footwear Industry Awards is a smash hit


The top players in the footwear sector were recognised in a stunning awards ceremony on 19th February at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham. Read on to find out who picked up an award...

he 19th February marked the sixth anniversary of annual awards programme the Footwear Industry Awards. Designed to recognise


the top footwear brands, retailers and individuals of the past 12 months, the awards are a stunning awards event attended by hundreds of key members of the footwear trade.


Taking place after the first day of the Moda Footwear show, guests enjoyed a glamorous cocktail reception, sponsored by Cherry Blossom, before proceeding into the ballroom for the brand awards, hosted by Ryan Philpott. The brand categories recognise footwear brands which have shown creativity, innovation and general excellence over the past 12 months.


The first award of the night, Men’s Brand of the Year, was sponsored by Out on a Limb magazine and was won by Anatomic. Ladies Brand of the Year, sponsored by Moda Footwear, was won by Rieker. Cotswold was the deserving winner of Outdoor Footwear Brand of the Year, whilst Comfort/Wellness Footwear Brand of the Year went to DB Shoes. The Fashion Brand of the Year award went to Lunar, and finally, the award for Shoecare and Accessories Brand of the Year went to Cherry Blossom.

Attendees then enjoyed a sumptuous three course meal, followed by after dinner chocolates sponsored by Froddo. An impressive £1300 was raised by attendees in a charity game of ‘Black & Gold’ in aid of the two nominated charities of the Footwear Industry Awards, Myeloma UK and Footwear Friends.


The much-anticipated retailer awards followed, with categories to recognise the range of specialist and high quality footwear retailers across the UK and Ireland.


"It's the one night of the year that the footwear trade get together, it's a must on the diary for any quality footwear business",whilst another family run retailer, Worcester-based independent chain Robin Elt Shoes, won Ladies’ Independent Footwear Retailer of the Year. Robin Elt also scooped the highly commended in the Men’s category.


Children’s Independent Footwear Retailer of the Year was won by Kent based indie Soles With Heart, a key player in the flourishing independent retail scene which prides itself on offering quality and value for money. Highly commended went to Donaghy’s in northern Ireland.
