Exciting New Fashion Trends for Autumn/Winter 2017-2018
Whilst browsing amongst the exhibiting booths at Riva Del Garda back in January, I couldn’t help but notice that the winter look is changing for AW17/18.
New Romantic era A new romantic and passionate look sweeps across the next winter collection, featuring soft and sumptuous velvets, 3-D embroideries and appliques, roses and bouquets all over, from booties to sneakers.
A comeback to the glamorous ‘80s is
introduced by patent leather, sparkling, glittering and colourful, powdery surfaces of classic moccasins, ‘cuissard’ (thigh guards) and ankle boots. The overarching colour is black, both plain and decorated, to serve as the ideal background to studs and conspicuous buckles in boots and ankle boots.
If all this tickles your fancy, I suggest you check
out the French brand Laura Vita’sarray of designs, textures and embellishments.
Coming to more comfortable footwear styles,
natural leathers and warm shades prevail, such as burnt ochre, rust, soft pastels, cream, beige, candy pink and dove grey.
Sports footwear, both for men and ladies, is
warmed up by fur inserts to be found in all styles, even in flip-flops and wintertime sandals.
The protagonist is woman- Impressive
footwear that tells us stories of new urban stars. These stand out from the offer on display at the show: thigh guards, skin tight, perforated, suede ripped or fringed denim, embroidered, patent-leather, glitter and even classic, black leather or nubuck, but also in natural tones.
Game of Thrones style- Others tell tales of
ages past and stars of Sky Atlantic, including the dark gothic style boots which I spotted from Manas, complete with studs and armour, reminiscent of Game of Thrones. Wow!
Another best seller is the lace-up ankle boot
with moulded heel, ankle or knee high. Even the classic Mary Jane, now comes studded with inserts, suede, decor and embroidery.
Loafers for the ladies New loafers are brought forth: square toe and mid heeled, often moulded. There is a great choice of heights and materials on offer: from the high wooden or clear plexi -heeled or gold sculpture- models, to sturdy flats for more street-style and sporty models.
Again, black is the overarching colour, with
burgundy, blue-green, dove beige as well as green, dark petrol, emerald or camouflage, in addition to carmine red and electric blue. My tip, check out HB Shoes range.
Men's shoes winter 2017-2018: showcasing a classy and edgy mood Expo Riva Schuh showcases the desire for a renewed classic design, a new formal code yet brightened with eccentric touches.
The most traditional menswear contours reign
supreme, renewed by a rounded shape with satin, faded or metallic finishes in intense tones ranging from bronze, the darker shades of rust to steel grey. All on a single-colour base with contrasting colours in the stitching, strings or in the sole profiles. Furs have pride of place, whether inside the shoe as lining or as external decorations.
Whether fine leather or the more basic outdoor
styles, the laced ankle boot is a guaranteed wardrobe staple. Alternatively, there is also the hinged model or the ever timely elastic inserts.
As for sportswear, it’s a green light for colourful
styles and natural leather from sneakers to mountain style boots, either burnt ochre and brown tone-on-tone, or the classic blue and grey.
The next edition of Expo Riva Schuh is from 10th – 13th June 2017 20 • FOOTWEAR TODAY • MARCH/APRIL 2017
As in the women's footwear collection, strict and squared warm tweed inserts reinvigorate men’s models that are already appreciated for their style and comfort.
Stylish, trendy and comfortable: presenting next winter’s kid’s footwear It’s all about boots next winter. The mini ankle boot takes pride of place in different versions, characterised by a renewed taste for single- colours or tone-on-tone, decorated with a thousand patterns and decorations.
Lots of mini designed studs, glitters, high gloss,
satin-finish, silver, gold and pink for girls. As in the grown-ups collections, there are many
total black styles, fur liners and fringes. In the most glamorous or party shoes, the trend for girls range from flats to mini suede crimson red, deep blue or black Mary Jane’s decorated with pom-pom details and fur liners.
As for sports shoes, a more understated trend
comes out on top with inserts, blue and grey or natural shades, all on laced ankle boots and zipper inserts, more easy-to-wear and casual.
Always on vogue, custom shoes for kid’s with
the most beloved cartoons and the characters of the main international blockbusters, come with new looks and surprises.
