Q&A

‘Shoes’ are life the rest is just ‘Accessories’.

We also offer a Chiropodist clinic which is currently run on a Tuesday and a Thursday in our Hingham shop.

Do you use and EPOS system?

YES we do! We have an Imperium system developed by Coland Systems. It is linked to all 3 shops and enables us to keep a close eye on stock movements, stock availability, leading best sellers, staff performance and analogy.

It’s an incredible tool which is essential for running an efficient and prosperous business.

What is your favourite men’s and ladies footwear brands and why? I personally love ‘Rieker’ mens footwear as they have such a great variety of styles for all age groups and for all walks of life. From ‘Formal’ wear to ‘Casual’ to ‘Active’ wear at an affordable price yet with great quality. My favourite ladies footwear would have to go to ‘Lotus’ as I love the old ‘Hollywood Glamour’ range which is classic, elegant and sophisticated with a sexy edge and a bit of bling!

Which footwear/fashion shows do you attend?

We love to visit the ‘Spring and Autumn’ Fair at the NEC in Birmingham. It’s a great way of catching up with representatives from all our brands and getting feedback and news regarding their up and coming collections and discovering new and exciting brands coming onto the market and for just simply keeping up with the latest trends!

Do you have a favourite footwear agent?

We have a great relationship with ALL our Brands.... Loakes, Rieker, Josef Seibel, Waldlaufer, Padders, Van Dal, Strive, Anatomic, Easy B , Hotters, Regarde Le Ciel, Gabor, Lunar, Jana, S.Oliver, Marco Tozzi, Gardiners, Lotus, Maybury, Miss Milly, Yoshi, Litchfield Leather, Oxford Leather. They are all supportive and only a phone call or e.mail away to give help and advice!

How many pairs of shoes do you own? Do you have a favourite pair? All I will say to this question is.......I dread to think BUT you can never have enough shoes!!!!

My favourite pair has got to be my wedding shoes.. cream satin and they were customised with lace from my wedding dress with a 3 inch heel just high enough to give me that bit of extra height seeing I am only 5ft tall and my husband is 6ft 3 BUT comfortable enough to dance all night! The shoes are still going strong even after 26 years!?!

Any famous customers?

Shirley Bassey, Jasper Carrot, Freddie Star and we have also supplied Gennaro Contaldo (Two Greedy Italians) seen on Saturday Kitchen.

How do you think the government could best help footwear retailers at this difficult time?

During the pandemic the help from the Government was paramount in keeping businesses afloat and people employed with the Job Retention Scheme, Business Interruption Loans, Business Rates Relief and Grant Funds.

Sadly, now there is nothing and industries are struggling to gain back the momentum of Pre Covid days. It’s tough and it will be for some time so a VAT reduction and suspension of Corporation Tax for small businesses and hitting online sales would be a huge help to avoid seeing the high streets and some retail sectors disappear completely.

Plans for the future?

To keep supplying a very high standard of service to all our customers together with a new and exciting project of ‘Romba On The Road’ where we will visit ‘residential homes’ ‘care homes’ and ‘community hubs’ so if you can’t come to us then we will come to you!
