Independent Footwear Retailer of the Month
How did you get into footwear? Tell us about your background and your current business?
Well like many women I have always been passionate about shoes, handbags & accessories!
After 20 years working for a national estate agent, I decided to leave and concentrate on being a mum! As my children grew older, I applied for a part-time job at ‘Romba Footwear’ which was situated in my home town. It was simply perfect as I could walk to work (even when there was 4 ft snow drifts)
Over the next 12 years I gradually increased my hours and as the business grew my responsibilities grew too! We opened 2 further outlets which I was directly involved in establishing and then managing! There

challenges that came along.
In 2019 I was offered the chance to buy the business as the current owners were wanting to retire but little did I know that ‘Covid’ was just around the corner?
Where are your premises located and how many people do you employ? Do you have a high turnover of staff? Tell us about your shop(s), the local area, your customers and their requirements? Romba Footwear has been established for over 30 years and is one of East Anglia’s largest Footwear outlets based in the heart of a wonderful conservation Town of Hingham with 2 additional outlets in Bawdeswell
