TECHNOLOGY IN ACTION ADVERTORIAL

New, highly flexible drive electronics and robust gearboxes in additional sizes

N Wieland’s samos® PLAN 6

reduces time and effort, boosts efficiency and minimises possible mistakes

I

n response to customer demand, Wieland Electric has developed the new samos® PLAN 6 project planning tool,

an extremely user friendly programming software with the option of automatic or manual configuration. With the automatic module configuration you can start inserting sensors, function blocks or actors on the logic editor and program your safety function without having to worry about the hardware. This follows the workflow recommended in TÜV proven Certified Electrical Safety Engineer training provided by Wieland Electric.

Thanks to multi-screen feature, you can see many pages

at once or work with many displays, dock, undock or attach working windows in samos® PLAN 6 or detach each window from the main window. In that way it is possible to organise the workspace individually and adapt them to suit the programmer.

BOGE Compressors Ltd Moving precisely into the future Multi-axis

ton-bearing applications. The company is particularly well known for its stage technology, and its products have been incorporated into scientific instrumentation and automated industrial equipment for some of the most demanding positional and metrological applications. PI recently acquired a majority stake in ACS Motion

P

Control, an international company specialising in high- performance control systems for motion-orientated applications. This partnership will enable PI to actively combine the highly complementary technological expertise of ACS engineers with that of its own staff, working together to integrate ACS’ control technology into the PI mechatronics and make the ACS controllers piezo compatible, enhancing the offering of both companies.

synchronised control – an area in which ACS excels – is perhaps the most important functionality gained by integrating ACS control technologies into PI motion solutions. Its advanced modular systems can manage up to 64 fully synchronized axes, perfectly complementing PI’s standalone

hysik Instrumente (PI) is renowned for its precision motion and positioning systems, from nanoscale up to

controllers to provide extended flexibility for more challenging applications, and enabling the complex curvilinear motions essential for precision automation. A prime benefit of this merger is that PI can now

offer complete solutions to its customers. Using a single supplier – whose knowledge and responsibility extends across the entire apparatus – will help to avoid the many pitfalls of maintaining complex equipment. With the user in mind, PI is committed to offering the advantages of a customised product with the user-friendliness of an off- the-shelf system, all while aiming to inspire today’s customers with tomorrow’s technology.

ORD DRIVESYSTEMS puts on two consecutive showcases in Shanghai this coming November. At CeMAT Asia and at CIIF IAS, the German drive expert will present various new developments, chief among them NORDAC LINK field distribution systems, which have been designed for easy installation, commissioning, operation, and servicing in conveyor applications. The manufacturer supplies these user-friendly new frequency inverters and motor starters configured to customer requirements. All sensor, communications, and supply lines can be easily connected via coded plugs. Maintenance switches, key switches, and direction switches ensure direct user access to every single axis. Notably, NORD offers drive configurations with a reduced number of variants for large plants. Such standardization has considerable cost saving potential in terms of purchase, installation, stock-keeping, and maintenance expenses.

BOGE helps shape the future of manufacturing B

OGE has placed itself at the cutting edge of compressor manufacture by investing ¤2 million in creating a

‘smart factory’ at its German headquarters in Bielefeld, west of Hannover. The 2,000m² smart factory, which manufactures

BOGE’s HST (high-speed turbo) oil-free compressor, monitors, controls and optimises manufacturing to maximise product quality and reliability, and ensure there are no faults during production. The smart factory employs Industry 4.0 (automation and

data exchange in manufacturing), using computer systems to monitor the physical processes of the factory and make decentralised decisions. Compressed air components ‘communicate’ with connected peripheral equipment automatically, using integrated networking to ensure the entire plant operates at full efficiency at all times.

No limits

New inductive proximity switches sense all metals at same range

K

plus is the name given by leading sensor manufacturer ifm electronic to their latest range of inductive

proximity sensors. The main feature of these is their reliable detection: long sensing range on all metals, there is no reduction factor. Addition reliability stems from the fact that the K = 1

correction factor sensor technology is inherently immune to electromagnetic fields. This wide range of devices in standard M8, M12, M18 and M30 housings offers different lengths for different applications, all with flush or non-flush versions and all featuring an industry-standard M8 or M12 connector. These devices are suited to a numerous applications

due to their wide operating temperature range and high protection rating. Installation is made easier by the fact that the thread can be completely used with the lock nuts, right to the end of the housing thread. The robust design in high-grade stainless steel renders this range ideal for all applications.
