PRODUCTS TECHNOLOGY FILE IP20 VERSIONS OF ECOSINE EVO PASSIVE HARMONIC FILTER AVAILABLE
Schaffner has introduced an IP20 enclosed version of its ecosine evo range of compact modular passive harmonics filters. Designed to meet the most demanding of harmonic mitigation tasks, this new generation of filters guarantees compliance with the toughest requirements of IEEE-519 and other stringent international power quality standards. Already available in a standard
IP00 version, the Schaffner ecosine FN 3440, FN 3450 and FN 3452 filters can now be specified with an IP20 enclosure, including finger
guard, providing protection from solid objects approximately 12mm in size, such as adult fingers. Schaffner ecosine eco filters are designed for use with three-phase diode and thyristor rectifier systems, achieving a THID ≤5 per cent without an additional DC-link choke included in the drive. They guarantee compliance with the toughest requirements of IEEE-519 and other stringent international power quality standards while being the most compact passive harmonic filters available in the market. The filters offer excellent performance
DIAGNOSTIC GATEWAY
The Cube67 Diagnostic Gateway enables you to carry out full diagnostics of Murrelektroniks flag ship Cube 67, Cube 67+ and Cube 20 IO systems at any location, be that via a tablet, laptop, HMI or permanently installed computer. Requiring absolutely no programming, this intelligent monitoring system provides a cost-effective all-in-one solution for all your diagnostic requirements. The Murrelektronik Cube67 Diagnostic Gateway reads
the entire fieldbus communication, process and diagnostic data. It provides a logbook for all diagnostic and error messages (including fleeting error) and presents the system topology, module designations and error messages in plain text – clearly indicating how to solve individual problems. With the Cube67 Diagnostic Gateway you gain a clear
overview of all your system data, including downtimes, connection data, CPU temperature, currents and voltages to name but a few. Detailed diagnostic messages include a location, explanation and problem- solving suggestion for any error messages. The Cube67 Diagnostic Gateway can be either easily retrofitted to an existing system or included into a new project and, thanks to ‘plug & play’ technology, it is easily integrated directly downstream of the bus node. It can immediately log the fieldbus communication. The system topology is shown live and is visually represented in graphic and tabular form. If an error occurs, this is shown not only on the I/O
module but also on the browser of any device connected via the Ethernet interface. A simple text import allows the gateway to know the machine area, down to the individual sensors and actuators by the name you provide during implementation. In the log book, the diagnostics are shown in plain text; even the intermittent errors. In addition, instructions containing specific solution
suggestions can be included. This information helps find and eliminate errors quickly, reducing machine downtime to a minimum. The Murrelektronik Cube67 Diagnostic Gateway is diagnostics made easy.

at rated power with minimal reactive power, even at partial or no-load conditions. With the installation of the new ecosine filters the electrical infrastructure and its utilisation are much more efficient and reliable. Installation of an ecosine filter ensures the service life cycle of electrical equipment is extended and energy costs are reduced. The flexible modular concept
offers users an optimal tailored solution configurable to meet every installation requirement or motor drive setup. Optional modules
include a fan with or without an auxiliary power supply, trap disconnect jumper and RC damper modules.

24V AXIS WITH ELECTRIC HOLDING BRAKE
SCHUNK’s ultra-compact ELP 24V linear modules are now available equipped with an electrically activated holding brake upon request. In the event of a power failure, the brake reliably maintains the position of
the linear module and prevents any unintended falling down of vertically arranged axes into the working area. The holding brake allows the STO (safe torque off) safety function to be executed. The linear module can also be stopped at full speed. The long-life brake can be retrofitted if required. It is particularly suitable for systems that are switched on and off frequently. The holding brake is available in two sizes with holding forces of 70N or 180N. With its 24V technology and an integrated auto-learn function, the
linearly direct-driven ELP defines the end position mechanically. It also regulates the speed of extension and retraction on two rotary encoding switches. The auto-learn function takes care of the rest. During the learning process, the maximum possible speed for the current payload is calculated. The motion profile itself is designed as a ramp, i.e. the unit automatically accelerates and brakes depending on the overall stroke. Impacts, vibrations and uncontrolled driving at maximum speed of the module are therefore excluded. If the component weight changes during the process, the axis automatically adjusts its movement profile within just a few strokes without requiring any user intervention. As the control occurs via digital I/O, the SCHUNK ELP series is compatible with all
controllers and can easily replace pneumatic modules. In combination with SCHUNK EGP small parts grippers and SCHUNK rotary gripping modules, a modular system is available that can be used to implement complete assembly solutions based on 24V technology.

NEW-GENERATION DIN-STANDARD BALL SCREWS
NSK’s high-speed, low-noise ball screws not only overcome the specific challenges of European machine tool applications, but also conform to DIN 69051 (ISO 3408) with regard to both dimensional and tolerance classes. Manufactured in shaft diameters from 32 to 63mm, and with leads from 10 to 40mm, the new high-speed, low-noise ball screws for European machine tool applications offer a speed factor of 160,000dn. This performance level means they can be used without restriction for high-speed machining applications where very accurate positioning is also required. The smooth running properties of the
new ball screws also set a new benchmark, establishing optimal pre-conditions for incurring the least possible vibrations in the linear system, while simultaneously reducing noise levels. Among the main contributors to this favourable combination of characteristics are the ball deflectors, which were newly developed to suit the new series.
34 OCTOBER 2017 | DESIGN SOLUTIONS
NSK has been developing ball screws for
machine tools since 1960. Today, the product portfolio is wide-ranging, offering shaft diameters from 4 to 200mm, as well as numerous types for specific requirements, such as extreme low noise, short strokes and maximum positioning accuracy.
