NEW SOFTWARE COMPONENTS FOR EASY HYDRAULICS CONTROL

ENERGY-EFFICIENT COOLING FOR HYDRAULIC EQUIPMENT

B&R is introducing new software components for controlling hydraulics applications. These components provide easier access to advanced closed-loop control functions and assist developers in the design, simulation, virtual commissioning and diagnosis of hydraulic systems. B&R mapp Hydraulics provides numerous new functions, particularly for variable-speed pump drives.

AUTOMATIC CONTROL LOOP TUNING With the autotuning function, the system automatically optimises the control loop parameters for the hydraulic pressure controller. This boosts both quality and system performance. Optimised pressure control parameters also help prevent damage caused by overloading or cavitation. If autotuning is used during operation, the machine software can automatically recalibrate the controller following changes to environmental conditions, or other factors such as load forces or characteristics.

AUTOMATIC CALCULATION OF MAXIMUM VALUES Another mapp Hydraulics component automatically calculates the maximum acceleration and deceleration values for a hydraulic drive. The drive moves autonomously within the operational limits defined by the user to identify the maximum values for a given hydraulic axis. This significantly shortens commissioning times for hydraulic axes.

R+L Hydraulics introduces its offline cooling units for hydraulic equipment, the OCN Series of offline cooling units. These units stand out due to their high cooling capacity, their low noise level as well as their compact and energy-efficient design. Thanks to the use of optimised fans and electric motors of efficiency class IE2, the OCN offline cooling units are exceptionally energy-efficient. The units of the OCN Series are the latest addition to the proven ACN Series of

oil-air coolers from the German hydraulics specialist R+L Hydraulics. Given their integrated pump, the OCN offline cooling units can be operated independently of the hydraulic plant's main flow as stand-alone modules. This protects the coolers from pressure surge damage while guaranteeing the equipment’s uninterrupted cooling. Moreover, it eliminates potential pressure losses within the oil circuit. The offline cooling units of the OCN Series are available in six different sizes with

oil flow rates ranging from 20 to 80 litres per minute. Designed for a system pressure of 10bars (145psig), operating temperatures from 20 to +120°C (-4 to 250°F) and an operating viscosity of 10 to 300cSt (centistokes), the offline cooling units are suitable for mineral-based hydraulic oils, synthetic oils and water-glycol- based fluids. They are easy to retrofit and also available with optional filters and separate thermostats. In addition to the offline cooling units, R+L Hydraulics develops and produces a

wide assortment of heat exchangers. These include oil-water heat exchangers, oil- air heat exchangers, plate heat exchangers, as well as customer-specific cooling systems. Moreover, known under the brand name Raja, the company produces and distributes a comprehensive range of hydraulics and power transmission compo - nents, such as jaw couplings, gear couplings, rigid and damped bellhousings, cooling pump bellhousings, damping elements as well as aluminium tanks.

Maintenance engineers can now demount and reassemble flanged power transmission couplings in a single-step operation using SKF’s new Quickgrip Bolts. Designed for high-torque rotating flanges, the new SKF Quickgrip Bolts, as well as existing SKF Supergrip Bolts, can be used to connect two flanged shafts quickly, safely and reliably. This applies to all types of propulsion systems, as well as rudders and other critical applications. In a single tool set-up the new SKF Quickgrip

Bolt provides a faster and more user-friendly alternative to other types of hydraulic and conventional bolt. A recognised issue among most major industries, conventional bolts often get stuck, which damages the holes, and requires replacement during overhauls. SKF Quickgrip Bolts provide the same practical

advantages of SKF Supergrip Bolts, whereby flanges require hole machining only prior to the first time insertion of the bolts. Thanks to the initial clearance fit, no grinding of the bolts is needed, and the SKF Quickgrip Bolt is easily inserted by hand. The bolt design comprises a tapered shank and surrounding unique flanged tapered expansion sleeve that are drawn together using a hydraulic tensioner, which instantly centres the bolt in the hole. Once mounted, the bolt is ready to transmit both a high radial and axial load, eliminating any potential flange coupling slippage. All SKF hydraulic type bolts can be removed and reused over the lifetime of the equipment wherever they are installed. SKF Quickgrip Bolts offer a faster, safer installation that requires fewer tools to

complete the process, saving time and reducing the potentially high costs associated with periodic removal and remounting of power transmission shaft couplings.
