London Tech Week by outlining his plans to make London the world’s leading ‘Smart City’. In his announcement, Khan cited the important role of digital technology and data in tackling some of the biggest economic, social and environmental challenges today’s cities and civilisations face. James Palmer joins systems integrator as Head of Sales

ames Palmer has joined systems integrator global


associates from controls manufacturer and integration specialist North Building Technologies.


Palmer said: “After a fantastic 23 years at North, it felt like time for a new challenge, and global associates came to me with a vision of the future that was very much aligned with my own.

oiler manufacturer and hot water specialist Hamworthy Heating has welcomed Bob Smith to the sales team for South & West Yorkshire, including Sheffield and Leeds.


Smith started out in the heating industry at LIFF Industries in Huddersfield, where he worked for the water treatment company before moving to Indux, a heat recovery and ventilation specialist. He has also been employed by Danish manufacturer Exhausto and later Docherty Chimney Group. At A.O. Smith, where he spent the last decade of his career, he made a name for himself as sales representative and CPD specialist in commercial solar thermal solutions. National Sales Manager, Stuart Turner, said: “We’re happy to welcome Bob to the team. Continuing professional development is something we at Hamworthy are passionate about and it’s great to have another experienced presenter on board. His diverse background knowledge when it comes to the hot water and heating industry will be an advantage when supporting our customers.”


uilding services engineering firm Colt International has appointed two more graduate engineers. Cara McKever and Liam McCabe have joined the company’s Glasgow office having graduated from the University of Glasgow. McKever successfully completed a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. During her studies, she was particularly interested in design and, before joining Colt, she spent two years with a fire engineering consultancy as a design engineer working on large, complex construction projects. “I am keen to develop my skills as an engineer and to continue to learn from the knowledge and experience of Colt’s leading experts in their field,” she said. McCabe secured a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with Aeronautics. He is interested in mechanical testing as well as renewable energy and sustainable design. “It was innovation that drew me to Colt,” he said. “A market leader with a strong history of innovative problem solving is a great place to start a career.”
