environment, there is opportunity for stock to both go missing as well as be misplaced. This leads to great levels of disruption and causes unnecessary cost. Stock control is crucial to the just-in-
time process that many warehousing and manufacturing plants now have in operation. However, the ability to provide real-time stock control data that is accurate is becoming increasingly challenging for even the largest of well- known brands, due to the volume of stock these premises encounter each day. Minebea Intec is a world leading
company in the development and application of loadcells, providing customers with the flexibility to weigh stock and control its movement in and around the factory. There are several applications for
loadcells within these environments, including loading bays, racking systems, packaging stations and eurobins, all of which can provide accurate measures and movement of stock. This can even be extended to the site entry point where
within the industry. With increasing levels of stock – especially within the online sector – the need to monitor and control stock has never been so critical. “Furthermore, due to the range of
loadcells manufactured by Minebea Intec this type of system can be installed even when the environmental conditions within a warehouse are harsh due to the handling of corrosive chemicals or potentially explosive substances.” Four compression loadcell feet are fitted to any piece of existing equipment to replace the existing feet including lift and tilt. They can also be fixed to base plates for static bolt-to-the-floor applications. The weight of every item placed on a shelf or container is recorded and stored. If any item is later removed then the system calls on this stored information to identify what was removed and requests a scan of the product to verify its removal. Items that are not scanned are identified as unauthorised movement and can be recorded and reported in real-time. Installing load cells on to a shelf or
weigh cells can be used to weigh incoming trucks as a further cross-check. By using Minebea Intec loadcells connected to process controllers or via a suitable network it is possible to attribute named users to movement of stock, therefore providing complete accountability within the process. Colin Maher, Minebea UK country
manager, says: “Our loadcells and mounting frames are an obvious choice within the factory setting, they are industrial pieces of kit that provide the accuracy and reliability that’s needed

container will turn these items into static scales, which negates the need for additional separate weighing equipment within the warehouse, thus saving stock process times and space. Along with the weight, individual items are also identified via barcode or automatically as it is placed using RFID streamlining the process further. Stock movement can be recorded and stored in a central database providing managers with a complete overview of the actual stock currently stored. Visual display screens are extremely easy to use and require little training. They provide real- time data that monitors stock weight and movement that is all fed back to the same central database. As a complete solutions provider,
Minebea Intec also builds inline checkweighers that can be used to verify the weight and therefore completeness of packages leaving to be dispatched to customers. This ensures that the correct products have been packed and provides a further cross check with overall stock when connected to the same network as the loadcells in the main warehouse. So whether you want to control stock,
weigh vehicles or mix and dispense products within your factory, Minebea Intec has a range and combination of weighing components and controls to improve and monitor your processes. The company offers expert advice and
top-level service as a premium weighing component manufacturer, so from conception of your solution through to calibrations and maintenance, Minebea Intec can provide the complete service.
