Raising the cyber bar
Lockheed Martin UK has become the first defence company to achieve Level 3 of the Ministry of Defence's Defence Cyber Certification (DCC) programme, the highest level currently available. The certification demonstrates a mature, resilient approach to cyber security at a time when protection of the defence supply chain is an increasing priority. Developed by the MOD, the DCC
framework aims to strengthen cyber resilience across organisations supporting UK defence. Lockheed Martin UK's achievement places it at the forefront of that effort and reflects significant investment in secure operations and risk management. As cyber threats continue to evolve, the certification provides an important benchmark for building trusted and resilient defence supply chains.
Building
tomorrow's talent QinetiQ has helped more than 200 young people develop real-world cyber security skills through the National Cyber Security Centre's CyberFirst Advanced programme. Delivered across the UK, the initiative gives students hands-on experience in digital forensics, cyber investigations, encryption and penetration testing while exposing them to career opportunities in the sector. The programme reflects the
growing importance of building a strong cyber talent pipeline as demand for specialist skills rises. Delivered with universities and the NCSC, CyberFirst brings together industry, academia and government to equip the next generation with capabilities needed to support the UK's future cyber resilience.
Technology for the Moon
MDA Space UK has been selected to provide lunar landing sensors for the European Space Agency's Argonaut mission, giving Europe an independent capability to deliver cargo and scientific equipment to the Moon. Developed in the UK with UK Space
Agency support, MDA's LEIA LiDAR sensor will help the spacecraft identify
hazards and select safe landing sites during descent. Generating 3D maps of the lunar surface in real time, the system can detect craters, boulders and uneven terrain regardless of lighting conditions. The contract places UK space technology at the heart of Europe's lunar exploration programme.
Defence looks to hydrogen
ZeroAvia and Marshall Aerospace have joined forces to explore how hydrogen- electric propulsion could be applied to future defence aircraft. The partnership combines ZeroAvia's fuel-cell technology with Marshall's expertise in military aircraft modification, integration and certification.
