The numbers behind the industry
Strip away the politics and policy announcements, and the UK's aerospace, defence, security and space sectors continue to deliver impressive economic results. According to the
ADS Facts & Figures report, the four sectors contributed £46.8 billion to the UK economy in 2025, generated almost £110 billion in turnover and delivered more than £50 billion in exports.
Together, they support 468,500 jobs across the country. The figures tell a story of resilience. While businesses continue to navigate economic uncertainty, geopolitical instability and supply chain pressure, the sectors have continued to grow, invest and innovate. ADS chief executive Kevin
Craven said the data demonstrates the strength of the industries the association represents, but warned that government ambition must now be matched by action. With major commitments made on defence, aerospace and industrial growth, the challenge for policymakers is no longer setting the direction of travel, but delivering at the pace needed to keep UK industry competitive.

StandardAero: Powering the NMH
StandardAero has secured a major role in the UK’s New Medium Helicopter programme, with its Gosport facility selected to build and support the engines powering the future AW149 fleet. The site will assemble GE Aerospace CT7-2E1 engines before providing maintenance and overhaul throughout their service lives.
Gosport will also support engines for future UK-built AW149 exports, extending the programme’s domestic industrial value and helping sustain skilled engineering capability. The award adds NMH to StandardAero’s existing work supporting the UK’s Chinook and Apache fleets, strengthening its position across Britain’s military helicopter supply chain and securing long-term work at the Hampshire site.
500 wings and counting
Airbus Belfast has delivered its 500th A220-300 wingset, marking a significant achievement for the Northern Ireland facility just months after its integration into Airbus. The site remains the sole producer of wings for every A220 aircraft built worldwide, supplying
assembly lines in Canada and the United States.
The milestone reflects the success
of the A220 programme, which has secured more than 1,000 firm orders, as well as the enduring strength of the UK's aerospace manufacturing base.
