sustainably discarding or donating unwanted items during relocations. The process can be challenging due to the lack of consistent solutions across different countries. “We are looking to partner with a company


globally that will either sustainably discard of unwanted items or donate them,” explains Caitlin Pyett, Crown World Mobility’s director of account management in APAC. “So, when an assignee is looking at all their goods that they could potentially ship on or store, they have the option of taking a sustainable approach to disposing of the items they don’t want, either via donation or sustainable discarding. “The first thing we did when we started

In Thailand, there is an arrangement with local temples to donate unwanted furniture.” However, she says it soon became clear


that every country was different and had its own challenges around managing the process of donating, reusing and recycling. “It took us several months to gather this


information and it was a real patchwork,” she says. “The more remote the country, the less likely it is that there’s any kind of solution in place at present. “We were hoping that one country would


have the answer so that we could extrapolate out across the rest of the world, but that wasn’t the case. It was just way too patchy. We have had to go away and source another solution that we can roll out on a global basis. It is challenging, and there aren’t many companies out there that have that capability, but we are working towards it.”
