Washington College of Law hosted a dynamic series of campus visits and conversations — bringing together global leaders, advocates and changemakers to engage in dialogue with students on issues shaping law and society today.


Judge Tatel Book Talk On Feb. 4, AUWCL 3L students Abby Rubin and Rachel Bechtel led a conversation with Judge David Tatel, who is retired from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, and AUWCL held a book signing celebrating his memoir, “Vision: A Memoir of Blindness and Justice.”


Walk for Peace arrived at AU On Feb. 10, American University was honored to welcome the Dhammacetiya venerable Buddhist monks as they concluded their 2,300-mile Walk for Peace in Washington, D.C.


Danielle Sassoon on Ethics and Public


Service On Feb. 10, the Law & Government Program welcomed Danielle Sassoon for a conversation on professional responsibility and public service. The event featured a Q&A with Professor Jeffrey Kahn, followed by a reception.

Ann Shalleck Lecture with Dorothy Roberts On Feb. 19, AUWCL’s Program on Gender, Theory, Law & Practice (GTLP) proudly hosted the inaugural Ann Shalleck Lecture, honoring the legacy of Professor Emerita Ann Shalleck and GTLP’s mission to deepen critical conversations on gender theory in the law. The lecture featured renowned scholar Dorothy Roberts, George A. Weiss University Professor of Law and Sociology at the University of Pennsylvania. The event included a book signing and reception.
