AUWCL balances its strong mission and rich history with an openness to innovation and change. AUWCL has long been recognized for its leadership in experiential education, international law, advocacy, intellectual property and public service. At the same time, the legal profession is evolving rapidly, shaped by technology, globalization, and new challenges that demand creative and adaptable lawyers — and a creative and adaptable law school to educate those lawyers.
Preparing students requires more than technical training alone. It requires cultivating judgment, resilience, empathy, and the ability to work across differences and disciplines. For our law school to be successful, it requires a strong and connected community. That’s why I am reaching out to you, our alumni, for your continued commitment.
Alumni engagement will play an ever-greater role in the life of AUWCL, whether through mentoring students, sharing expertise, supporting programs, or remaining connected to our broader law school community. You, our alumni, are a pillar of AUWCL. And we need you now.
I am honored to join the remarkable AUWCL community and excited about what lies ahead. Together, we have an opportunity to build on AUWCL’s many strengths while continuing to expand its impact and national leadership in legal education.
Thank you for your commitment to our AUWCL community and for all you do to champion justice, service and the rule of law.
Founded by women during their fight for enfranchisement, AUWCL boasts a 130-year legacy of training advocates steeped in commitment to justice. It has been a tremendous honor to advance this legacy for the past two years as interim dean.
I am so proud of our school and, of course, the Class of 2026, our newest alumni! Our alumni are indispensable partners for resource generation, programming, teaching and career development in service of the AUWCL community.
Dean Barry joins us at an ascendant and exciting time. I look forward to seeing the AUWCL community thrive with his deanship.
Thank you for entrusting me to lead through these years. Enjoy reading about the wonderful achievements reflected in this issue of The Advocate.
