CLASS NOTES 1970s


Gil Rothenberg ’75, former chief of the Appellate Section of the Justice Department's Tax Division, and currently an adjunct professor of law at AUWCL, is one of four former government officials who, together with two organizations, submitted an amicus brief to the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida in the case of Trump v. IRS.


Stuart Kaswell ’79 authored a book, “Introduction to U.S. Securities Laws: Guide to Legislative Process, Regulatory Process, and Judicial Review,” which was published in July 2025.


1980s


Jamie Baldwin ’81 is adjunct professor at the University of Maryland Global Campus, teaching online classes in business law, contracts, and torts; visiting lecturer on airline law at the University of Westminster (London); and visiting lecturer on airline operations at Emirates Aviation University (Dubai).


R. Joseph (Joe) Trammell ’82 retired from Rule Joy Trammell + Rubio LLC, an architecture and interior design firm.


Brian Hirsch ’85 awarded the 2026 Betty A. Thompson Lifetime Achievement Award by the Virginia State Bar Family Law Section on April 23. This award honors individuals who have made substantial contributions to the practice and administration of family law in the Commonwealth of Virginia.


1990s


Stephen Aschettino ’91 joined Fox Rothschild in New York as chair of the firm’s newly formalized Fintech & Digital Assets Practice.

Russell W. Gray ’93 named co-chair of Baker Donelson’s Labor & Employment Group.


Steven Hamrick SOC/BA ’87, JD ’93 joined East West Resources Corporation in April 2025 as general counsel. Additionally, Hamrick was awarded the 2026 AUWCL Alumni of the Year at the annual Myers & Mooers Society Dinner this spring.


Devang Shah ’93, partner at Shah & Kishore, marks 30 years of legal practice in the state of Maryland.


Julie (Amstein) Cillo ’95 awarded the Family Law Service Award by the Virginia State Bar Family Law Section Board of Governors on April 23, 2026. This award honors an individual or organization who has provided valuable services in advancing family, domestic relations or juvenile law in Virginia.


Daniel Cullen ’97 appointed co-chair of Baker McKenzie’s Private Capital practice.


2000s


Nicole Islinger ’03 has been added as a partner in the Corporate, M&A, and Securities group at Blank Rome LLP’s Washington, D.C., office.


Jessica Swartz ’03 is running for Congress in Michigan's 4th District in 2026.


Ashley (Gordon) Hanks ’09 appointed a domestic violence commissioner in the Eighth Judicial District Court in Clark County, Nevada.


2010s


Peter Salzler ’10 was promoted to partner at Braverman Greenspun.


Tatiana O. Sullivan ’10 was promoted to partner at Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom LLC.


Cristopher Sinan ’11 joined Foster Garvey as counsel in the Tax & Benefits practice in Seattle.


Ryan Watson ’14 has joined the Denver office as senior associate at Wood, Smith, Henning and Berman.


Jacob H. Zoghlin ’14 selected to serve as co-chair on the Enforcement & Compliance Committee of the New York State Bar Association’s (NYSBA) Environmental & Energy Law Section.


Elizabeth Lewis ’15 received the Outstanding Graduate of the Last Decade Award at AUWCL’s 2025 Alumni Reunion in October, 2025.


Lee-Ann C. Brown ’16 was promoted to counsel at Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP.


George V. John ’16 was promoted to partner in the Global Regulatory & IP practice at Hogan Lovells.


Caitlin Crujido ’17 was promoted to partner at Morrison Foerster, as a member of the Government Contracts Group in the Litigation Department.


Becky Kumar ’17 was promoted to partner at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP in the Asset Management Group - Private Equity Funds Practice.


Nicholas Laneville ’17 was promoted to counsel in the Global Regulatory & IP practice group at Hogan Lovells.


Eve L. Pferdehirt ’18, associate at Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP, was named to the 2025 Lawdragon 500 X – The Next Generation list, which recognizes young attorneys who have been in in practice for less than 15 years and who have made significant achievements early in their careers.


Andrew Urueta ’19 transitioned to a role as a staff attorney for the First Court of Appeals of Texas in Houston.

Brittney Rudolph ’20 joined Caplin & Drysdale as an associate in the firm’s Exempt Organizations group.


Daniyal Hannan ’21 joined Goodell DeVries as an associate in the firm’s Appellate and Critical Motions practice.


Shoba T. Kadavil ’21 has joined Goodell DeVries as an associate in the Medical Malpractice and Employer Liability practice groups.


Lourdes Vazquez ’21 welcomed her first child and participated in the Hispanic National Bar Association's Latina Leadership Academy.


Maddie Fuller ’22 recognized as Pro Bono Advocate of the Year in D.C. from Kids in Need of Defense.
