League of Women Voters
Richard Rothstein, Author
The fireside chat on Sept. 12, 2024, with Richard Rothstein drew nearly 150 attendees, with students asking insightful questions and discussing racial equity in housing. Many purchased books, which the author graciously signed.
In recognition of National Voter Registration Day, Interim Dean Heather Hughes and the Office of Public Interest hosted a fireside chat with members of the League of Women Voters (LWV), a non-partisan, women-led grassroots organization that has been empowering voters and defending democracy for over a century. The event on Sept. 17, 2024, featured Jeanette Senecal, senior director of mission impact at LWV, and Grace Wynelle Thomas, treasurer of LWVDC.
Gerald Schwartz ’74
On Nov. 11, 2024, “Gerald Schwartz ’74 — An Aſternoon with an Advocate” brought together an engaged group of students eager to hear about Schwartz’s motivating journey. From pharmacist to part-time law student to successful personal injury attorney and pro bono advocate, the WCL alumnus shared relevant, oſten humorous stories and valuable insights about his path in law.
Brazil’s Minister of Planning and Budget, Simone Tebet
International Law at AUWCL was honored to host Brazil’s Minister of Planning and Budget, Simone Tebet, for an impactful event on Oct. 22, 2024, titled “Shaping Brazil’s Future: Democracy and Regional Integration.” This event was possible thanks to Renata Vargas Amaral, Secretary of International Affairs of Brazil and former co-director of the WTO and U.S. Trade Law and Policy Summer Program.

Wenger Practitioner Speaker Series
On October 29, 2024, the Trade, Investment and Development Program hosted Dan Minutillo, partner at Centre Law Group as part of the Wenger Practitioner Speaker Series. Minutillo discussed the use of emerging technologies to promote economic development by liberalizing export controls.
