A funding boost of nearly £75,000 has been received by the Ribble Rivers Trust to put towards its project. Keeping the Ribble Cool. The scheme seeks to improve river habitat in the Ribble catchment area by erecting fences and planting thousands of nativetrees. Livestock can be harm
ful to rivers because they erode the riverbanks and
their faeces can pollute the water.
The trees will be planted strategically, with the aim of connecting existing woodland, creating wild life corridors and increas ing the available habitat for insects, birds and mam mals.
