' MP welcomes promise of tax cuts

Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans has welcomed tax cuts announced by the Prime Minister in his speech to the Conservative Party Confer ence in Birmingham. Mr Cameron pledged

that the next Conservative government would raise the personal tax allowance to £12,500 and that the 4op in; come tax threshold would be raised from £41,900 to £50,000.

Welcoming the news, Mr

Evanssaid: “The measures an nounced by the Prime Minis ter will make a real difference topeople’s lives, notjust in the Ribble Valley but nationally. “The raising of the person

al allowance will take a million people out of tax altogether and give a tax cut to 30 mil lion more. “It will now be the case that

someone working 30 hours a week on minimum wage will

pay no tax whatsoever. This is the real way to improve people’s living standards, rather than gimmicks on en- ergypricesorindeedthepoli- ‘ tics of envy. “I agree with the Prime

Minister that the task of the next Parliament will be to help people get on and in my opin ion the best way of achieving this is for people to be able to keep more of their own money.”

health and wellbeing services across the county and as part of its annual Staff Awards cel ebrations it is inviting mem bers of the public to submit nominations for its People’s Choice Award. The winner of the award

will be voted for by the public and announced at the awards

ceremony in March next year. The deadline for nominations is Friday October 31st. Heather Tierney-Moore,

Chief Executive at Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust said: “The People’s Choice Award was launched last year and we received a phenome nal response from members of the public, which was great to see. We’re once again giv ing people the opportunity to nominate individuals or teams who they think deserve spe cial recognition for the work they do to improve experienc es for service users and their

families. “It’s often the little things

that can make a real difference to the service user experience and this category allows the public to have their say and help us recognise some of the outstanding contributions our staff make on a regular basis.” The People’s Choice cat

egory allows people to nom inate a team, individual or service. To vote visit www. lancashirecare.nhs.uk/Peo- ples-Choice-2015 and com plete a nomination form by Friday October 31st.
