the event, which featured a presentation by Zoe Goddard, of national community net­ work Locality, and Cathy Ho- pley, of the Forest of Bowland AONB.Theyspokeabouthelp, support and funding available for rural community projects. The Ribble Valley Rural Fo­ rum is held twice a year and


showcases issues affecting ru­ ral communities, with a focus on the voluntary, community and faith sectors, it also pro­ vides an interface between the communities and the statuto­ ry bodies that serve them. Ribble Valley Borough


Council partnership officer Dilys Day said: “The forum provides an opportunity to discuss issues specific to ru­ ral communities, with afocus on the voluntary, community


and faith sectors. It is also an opportunity to network and meet people who may be able to assist with project develop­ ment, as well as share infor­ mation and knowledge.” The forum meets at the

Hotel’s charity trees bear fruit


Stanley House Hotel and Spa has raised £700 for char­ ity through its adopt a tree scheme. TheMellorhotelishometo


a budding orchard which has helped to boost funds for its charity of the year, Rosemere Cancer Foundation. The 16 trees in the Rosemere orchard range from Bramley and Cox apple to pear and cherry bare root and are available for visi­ tors and supporters of the ho­ tel to adopt for a donation of £250. Following the first harvest


of the season, Stanley House is inviting early adopters to return to sample fruit from the trees. Wendy Hope, sales and


marketingmanager at the ho­ tel, said: “It’s fabulous to see both the orchard and fund­ raising flourish. The scheme allows those who perhaps cel­ ebrated theirweddinghere to create a lasting mark or those with an affiliation to Stanley House to have a little piece of our gardens. Members are being recruited for a new youth choir to lead the congregation on a Sun­ day in Clitheroe’s catholic church. St Michael and St John’s


RC Church, Lowergate, which is part of the Lady o f the Valley parish, is starting its own youth choir, which will sing and lead the congrega­


tion once a month, at the 9-30 am Sunday mass. A practice will be held on the Thursday prior to the
