Around 500 people attended celebrations on Friday to markthe70th anniversary of the Hodder Valley Show.
The party, at Parrack Head farm, Slaidburn, includ ed a hog roast, bar, charity auction and entertainment by the Wayne Farrow and Band. There was also optional
rally style judging of sheep, livestock and horticulture plus guessing games which included “name the area of the Hodder Valley” by look ing at photographs taken by Slaidburn resident David Mc- Namee. There was also a “guess the
useoftheobject” game, which included items such as an old fashioned mole trap, an imple ment that was used to pierce a bull’s nose, a ratchet used to tie a wool sack and a hay bale skewer used to test the quality ofthehay. Anauctionofpromiseswas
also held, with all the money raised donated to the Farm ers ‘Walkfor CancerCharities. Rachel Capstick acted as
auctioneer and prizes were donafed by the local commu nity. They included a Hodder . Valley deer stalking experience with Duncan Thomas BASC, plus dinner for two at the Hark to Bounty, Slaidburn, a day’s fishing on the River Hodder for two plus dinner and a bot tle of wine at the Parkers Arms, Newton, anda vehicle MOT test, health check and valet at Dean- field Test Centre, Clitheroe,' courtesy of Adrian Townson, tonamejustafew. . ebration of the effort made by all those who took part or sup-
. ported the Farthers Walk for CancerCharities. The final amount raised
by the walk will be revealed at this year’s Hodder Valley Show, which will be held at Dunsop Bridge on Saturday September 13th. . . For the full story and a pic
