Next Tuesday, August 12th, at 7-30 pm at Clithe- roe Cricket Club, Jenny Palmer will give a talk about her book “Whipps, Watsons and Bullcocks - a Pendle Family History”. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the month at 7-30 pm at Clit- heroe Cricket Club. The September meeting willbe a members’ night. Visitors are always wel­ come.

Children and their families arrived in droves to meet Peppa Pig and her friends at the summer fair of Ribblesdale Nursery School and Children’s Centre. A total of £424.33 was raised and this will go to nursery school funds. Thanks was expressed to Easy Peasy Parties who look after Peppa and all her friends. The nursery school and children’s centre have said farewell to headteacher Ange Benson,, who is relocating to Watford. The new head, Sue Allen, starts in September andawarm wel­ come is extended to ail children and their parents to go along and visit her.

vehicles were seized because they were not insured. In addition, 18 warnings were issued to drivers with defec­ tive vehicles and 23 motorists were asked to produce driving documents at a police station. A total of 10 offences, rang­

derstones Park, Whalley, is a Year 5 pupil at Oakhill College, Whalley. She received a silver


ce rtif icate from the UK Junior Mathematical Chal­ lenge which is run by the UK Mathematics Trust and is aimed atsecondary school pupils in Year 7 and Year 8 in England and Wales. The UK JMC was first


run in 1988. In recent years, more than 250,000 pupils from around 3,706 schools have taken part and certif­ icates are awarded to the highest scoring 40 % of can­ didates. Proud mum Patricia
