RESIDENTS and staff at The Manor House in Chatburn were pretty in pink to raise funds for breast cancer suf ferers. Both male and female residents dressed in a variety of pink clothing to support the event, during which a guess the pink teddy bear’s birthday competition was also held. Our picture shows some of those who

joined in with the fun. (s).

formal alterations service and, when looking at ways to add value to her business, decided there was a gap in the market for bespoke tailoring for wom en in the Ribble Valley. “The high street stores are

renowned for being inconsist ent when it comes to sizing of women’s clothes, and this rings true, given the number of alter ations I’ve been making over

the past few years,” explained Jacqueline. “We’re all different, and

having a suit, jacket or trousers professionally tailored to suit your shape not only saves you time and frustration trawling around the shops, but allows you to create something unique that leaves you feeling amazing and looking your best.” The Thread & Petal concept

UPPER CRUST: Cross-border butchers John Whiteside (Lancashire), right and Mike Ward (Yorkshire) square up ahead of this year’s Great Northern Pork Pie Fest at Skipton Auction Mart. Attempting to keep the peace, centre, is Manorlands fund-raiser Matthew Binns.

Whose pies for prize?

MEAT men and women from both sides of the border are preparing for the third annual “battle of the butchers” - the Great Northern Pork Pie Fest at Skipton Auction Mart later this month. “While competition is keen between

tailored jackets, skirts and trousers in natural fabrics such as Italian wool suiting, linens, Irish tweeds and boiled wool. Once measured, Jacqueline

will cut, stitch and accessorise the design to a client’s speci fication and create a garment that is completely unique. Jacqueline’s launch collec

tion was revealed at a very suc cessful event held at JWL last weekend. For more details," contact Jacqueline on 0120J 425955.

White and Red Rose pie-makers, the rivalry is friendly and it’s all in the best possible taste,” noted Craven Cattle Marts general manager Jeremy Eaton. The contest is again being run along

side Skipton’s annual Christmas prime stock show and sale, on Sunday Novem ber 27th, the region’s premier event for butchers seeking to source the best lo

cal beef and lamb for their customers’ Christmas tables. Yorkshire butchers have so far ruled

the roost in the pie fest, clinching su preme championship honours at both previous events. Hinchhffe’s Farm Shop, of Netherton, Huddersfield, was victori ous at the 2009 opener, while last year it was Farmhouse Fare, Skipton, whose Janet Green confirmed she will be de fending her title. However, Chatburn butcher Roy Porter, best of the Lanca shire entrants in 2010, vowed: “We’ll be back, determined not to let Yorkshire have it all their own way again!”
