TRAINED medical assist­ ance was not required when five friends from Clitheroe Health Centre set out to com­ plete a 148- mile coast to coast cycle ride from Whitehaven to Sunderland. The group consisted of four


nurses and a medical secre­ tary who were raising money for Women v. Cancer, a char­ ity whose focus is on ali types of cancer in women, particu- lariy ovarian, breast and cer­ vical. One of the women, Nicky


Scorah, hopes to continue the fund-raising when she sets off on her next big adventure, cy­ cling 400km. through Kenya next year for the same cause and hopes to add significantly to the £1,116 raised so far through pure pedal power. To donate to the fund, or for more information, visit
