w.clltheroeadvertiser.co .uk Clltheroe A d v er t is e r & Tim e s , Thursday, October 2 8 ,2 0 1 0 Tributes to loving Aaron’
A FAMILY has paid tribute to a 42-year-old loving man , who left a lasting impression on whoever he met. ; Aaron-Thistlethwaite, who
had Down’s Syndrome, died in hospital with his family beside him. Described by his loved ones as “kind, consid erate and affectionate”, Aar- : on was well-liked by all who : knew him. His popularity was evident by the hundreds of condolence cards his fam ily received. Born and brought up
in Billington, Aaron was educated at a special needs school, after which he began
attending Pendleton Brook Day Centre, Clitheroe, aged 21. .Aaron was “adopted” by .
Garry and Kath Ridgeway, of Park Avenue, Clithe roe, when his mum died 14 years ago. Kath, who has two grown-up children, Kelly and Daniel, said Aaron had no trouble adapting into family life.“He was in respite care and came to visit us for an afternoon and that was it, he didn’t want to leave. He quickly become a much- liked member of our family and fitted in really well,” she said.
She added that Aaron had
a huge smile and a big heart, and added: “He was well loved by everyone and very popular in Clitheroc. He enjoyed socialising and kept himself very busy at all times. Every Friday evenings he enjoyed going to the IGng’s Arms for a little drink. “He liked superheroes
and would often dress up as Superman or Spiderman to entertain us.
■ “He had a real passion for
writing and always carried papers and pens with him.” “He brought so much love and happiness into our lives
and we have never regretted looking after Aaron.” More than 200 mourners
gathered at St Michael and St John’s Church and to hon our his memoiy, over 100 he lium balloons in the colours and form of superheroes, on which friends and family had written special messages for him, were released at the cemetery. Aaron is survived by his
sisters Rosaline Holgate and Gabrielle, brother Austin, Kath and Garry Ridgeway,
: Kelly, Chris, Daniel, Emma, • Amelia, Oscar, Henry and Jack.

Rugby hero Kyran’s return to Stonyhurst
ENGLAND rugby hero turned ice dancer Kyran Bracken visited his old
school in the Ribble Valley. Bracken, who was part of England’s World
Cup winning squad in 2003, went back to Stonyhurst College to coach some of the school’s rugby players. “Coming back to Stonyhurst brought back
some fantastic memories of my time here and it was good to see some of my teachers of 20 years ago!” said the 38 year-old star. “It was great training the under-16 rugby
team and helping them to improve their game, and congratulations to the first team in winning their latest cup fixture and pro gressing on to the next round.” Headmaster Andrew Johnson said, “Itwas
great to welcome Kyran back to Stonyhurst and our under-16s really benefitted from his inspirational coaching.” Bracken won ITV’s “Dancing on Ice” pro
gramme and is in the north west promoting his “Ice Party” shows, which are on the Octo ber 23rd and 30th at The Arena at Blackpool OLD SCHOOL: Rugby star Kyran Bracken with the under-16s squad at his old school, Stony- Pleasure Beach.
hurst College. Fashionable boost for hospices Moving his car after 21
drink proved costly A WADDINGTON man’s parking problems end ed with him losing his driving licence and his job. Blackburn magistrates heard Martin Hoyle (28)
was unable to park outside his home and ended up leaving fiis vehicle on the social club car park. But when he moved it later that night police
were in attendance because of an incident at the club and he was stopped and breathalysed. Hoyle, of Waddow View, pleaded guilty to driv
ing with excess alcohol. He was banned from driving for 17 months and
fined £100 with £100 costs. Miss Catherine Allan (prosecuting) said officers
outside Waddington Social Club heard and then saw a car being driven in what they considered to be a dangerous manner. An officer stepped out and held up a hand for
the car to stop. “The car didn’t stop and tlie officer had to move
quickly out of the way,” said Miss Allan. “The officer jumped in his car and followed un til the car stopped nearby.’: ■ I : , Mr Andrew Church-Taylor (defending) said
FABULOUS fashion and fund raising were the order of the
:evening when local country, clothes specialist SWAMP and Luxury Blends Cashmere got . together in aid of Pendlesidc and East Lancashire hospices. - “The night was a great success and raised in ex
cess of £1,080.” said Katie Holden, owner, of SWAMP. .“Wc were overwhelmed that
! what wc classed as a small event managed to raise so much mon-. cy for the hospices. Everyone enjoyed a glass of Champagne : on arrival and the evening was ereat fun. The male models were
. particularly popular with some of the ladies who attended!” • Charity coffers were boost-
:ed further by the raffle and winners walked away with prizes including a lady’s coat and a leather holdall, both from the new SWAMP Au tumn and Winter collection..
Hoyle had left his car outside the club earlier in the day. He had then been out with friends in Clit heroe, taking a taxi there and back.. • “When he got home he went to.his car to get
his front door key, but having seen there was room outside his address he decided to move the car,” said Mr Church-Taylor. > . “As a result of that decision he has lost his job as a tree suraeon.”-■
