Clitheroe Advertiser & Times, Thursday, September 16,2010 Local band debut new song

A CAPACITY audience at Whalley Village Hall enjoyed a rare evening of Lancashire and traditional songs. Music was provided by local

folk group the Garage Band, whose members all live in the Ribble Valley.

The highlight of the first half

was a world premiere of a song written by Whalley resident Tony Hogan. This highly charged song about the famine in Ireland was delivered by Samantha Hilton, lead member of Tony’s group the Seraphim. The Garage Band, who have

an enthusiastic local following, rehearse in lead singer Jim King’s garage in King Street Whalley. Jim, a well-known local business man, sells country furniture and M amazing range of bric-a-brac in his shop. It’s not unusual to see customers dropping in to hear the Garage Band rehearsing there on a Saturday afternoon.
