Birds of a feather flock to ... Nigel!

BY 'eck it's tough being on MP.

The endless dull de

bates, the fierce political backbiting, the irritat ing chore of winning elections, the piles of expenses forms to fill, the constant photocalls with armfuls of stunning showgirls... Well every job has its

perks and "hobnobbing" at a "society do" has to be one of the better ones for a long-suffering MP. And this was quite some do too.

Held in the glorious

surroundings of Chip ping's Gibbon Bridge Ho tel, the locally-organised charity bonanza raised more than £30,000 to be ploughed into good caus es across the county. For the full story of this

magnificent fund-raising effort see page five of this edition. Caught on camera dur

ing the evening, poor Nigel certainly seems to have his hands full... come to think of it, where are his hands?

Farm in Pendle Road, Downham, was smashed before the intruders searched the property and stole a number of items of jewellery. The break-in occurred last Thurs day between 8-30 a.m. and 6-30

p.m. and the items stolen included a silver watch with an elasticated nine-carat gold bracelet strap with a pattern arounde the middle, cop per coins, a Next watch and a green wooden model house. Police believe the burglars then struck at an isolated detached farm

-house in Martin Top Lane, Rim- ington. They again used a sledge hammer to gain entry and escaped unseen with an LCD TV. Hundreds of pounds worth of
