Waddington go nap in latest victory
Waddington Res' . . . . .5 Bradley Res .................0 WADDINGTON remain on top of the league after a thumping 5-0 win over Bradley. Carrying on from their
recent fine displays the score flattered the visitors as Waddington could and should have scored more. Bradley didn’t trouble the
Soccer
home teams back four and Michael Bank was delighted in keeping the first clean sheet of the campaign so far. Fielding a strong XI, the
Tangys welcomed back Christophe Pinard for his first appearance for the reserves of the season.
The first goal came early a s .
a pinpoint through ball by Avci released Pinard who calmly rounded the keeper and fin ished into the empty net. His strike partner Jackson
then scored the second from a good angled header, giving the keeper no chance. Bradleys hopes vanished
with the second goal and just reduced them to long balls that
resulted in a less than enter taining game. In the second half after a
great long through ball by right back Hodgkinson found Jackson who finished well, clip ping the ball around the advancing keeper. Then a moment of pure
magic which drew gasps from all the players and the fans. After a long clearance by the
away team following a comer, substitute Richard Pells, on the half way line, hit a sublime first-time volley that dipped into the top right corner to surely seal the goal of the sea son award. The scoring was complete
when in the last ten minutes the superb James Bawlinson met a pinpoint free-kick with a powerful header..

Clitheroe Advertiser &Times, Thursday, November 19th, 2009 45 Ward wins Grindleton lose out in thriller Porter
S. WARD took the first Ladies Open Turkey Shoot at Clitheroe Golf Club last week. The Royal Lytham golfer finished with
28 points, two ahead of Mytton Fold’s J. Sanderson. Whalley’s V. Birtwell took third spot on
a three-way card play-off with M. Gooch (Settle) and J. Kay (Mytton Fold), after the trio all carded 25 points. V. Failess of Stonyhurst also has two
two’s, while Mytton Fold’s D. Hammond had one.
Gargrave......................6 Grindleton..................3 A NINE-goal thriller saw Gargrave get revenge on Grindleton for the 3-1 defeat they suffered just one month previously. The hosts could have been
two up within the first ten minutes. However, the deadlock
was broken when a Gargrave free-kick took two wicked deflections before entering the net. Ten minutes later the home side doubled then- lead when a shot from the
Soccer
edge of the box cannoned off Oliver Cross and hit the net via the post. Grindleton started to play
some good football and were unlucky not to get back on level terms with efforts from Chadwick and Driver flying just wide. The second half started •
with Grindleton feeling very confident they could find a way back into the game, but against the run of play the
home team grabbed the cru cial next goal when a free- kick was drifted into the box and Richard Orme out-mus cled the defence to head into the top-comer. Grindleton decided to go
for broke but were left reel ing when another effort from Orme took a cruel bounce and ballooned over the sprawling Mashiter. At 4-0 down, the game
looked over, but the excellent Scott Fielding controlled the ball from a Jackson cross and fired home.
As Grindleton pushed for
ward they left gaps at the back and Ben Brown exploited this with a first time shot into the comer of the net. Tim ‘Williams then pulled
another back with an outra geous shot from the edge of the area and Joe McTier smashed home. However, by this time
Gargrave had made it six with a spectacular overhead kick th a t took another deflection into, the Grindle ton net.
