RIBBLE VALLEY couple Miss Sarah Kent and Mr Andrew McLean were married at Preston Register Office. The bride is the daughter of Mr
and Mrs Alan and Barbara Kent, of Clitheroe. She works as a showroom receptionist, but is currently on
maternity leave looking after six- month-old daughter Louise. Her bridegroom, who works in
telesales, is the son of Mr Steven McLean, of Cornwall, and Mrs Mar garet McLean, of Foulridge. Given away by her father, the bride wore an ivory strapless gown
with beading detail around the waist and bodice. Her veil, which was deco rated with diamante detail, was held in place by a rhinestone and dia mante tiara. She carried a shower bouquet of ivory roses, calla lilies, thistles and ivy. The bridesmaid was Lindsay
Scott, who wore a shimmering gold- coloured dress and carried a bouquet of roses, lilies and ivy. Best man was John Whitaker. Following the ceremony, a recep
tion was held at the Bartle Hall Hotel, near Preston. The couple will continue to live the Ribble Valley.

Mr and Mrs Dave and Marianne Wilson, of West Bradford, is customer account manager at local pudding manufacturers Farmhouse Fare. Her bridegroom, who works for the
Environment Agency, is the son of Mr and Mrs Gordon and Ann Talbot, of Branthwaite, in Cumbria. Given away by her father, the bride
wore an ivory silk gown with pearl and crystal beading and sweetheart neckline. She carried a bouquet of ivory calla lilies, roses and orchids. She was attended by her sister, Miss
Hannah Wilson, and friend Miss Penny Shepherd, who wore burgundy dresses and feather fascinators and carried posies of ivory roses. Best man was Mr Gino Lanciotti and
groomsmen were Messrs Jeremy McGrath, Jason Knight and Grant Wil son. Guests travelled from as far as Canada
for the service, conducted by the Rev. Stewart Ridley, his last wedding before retirement. There were readings by the bride’s mother, sister and friend, Helen Colley. After a drinks reception a t the Lower
Buck Inn, Waddington, guests journeyed to Manchester for a traditional Chinese wedding feast at the Yang Sing Restau rant. The couple toured New Zealand for

PREPARATIONS are under way for the Ribble Valley’s first Montessori Pre-School to open its door to the public in January. The brainchild of Nancy Bigmore, a pri
mary school teacher with a Montessori diploma, Sawley Montessori Toddler Group will help children aged between three and five develop themselves by directing their natural curiosity and thirst for knowledge - thanks to a unique teach ing and learning experience. In the Montessori Pre-School, which will
be held a t Sawley Village Hall, the materi als will be child-sized and the equipment will be laid out in an orderly fashion on low shelves that will be easily accessible for the youngsters. Commenting on the pre-school, Nancy

sang part of the songs he has written and then told a bit of a tale about how he came to write them.”
Man in court on possession charges
A 23-YEAR-OLD Clitheroe man has appeared in court charged with supplying drugs, including the horse sedative keta mine. Max Leon Jones, of Mearley Brook Fold, was ordered to be dealt with at Pre ston Crown Court when he appeared before Blackburn magistrates charged with possessing ecstasy and ketamine
said: “The atmosphere is one of calm where you see young children concentrating for surprising periods of time.
“Children work at their own individual
pace and n a tu ra l ly develop th e ir own rhythm and work pattern guided by a teacher with little intervention as long as they are working with the material produc tively.” An open day for the new pre-school will

doctor of medicine in Italy and 2007 marks the centenary of the opening of her first school. Her observations of the way children
learn naturally by investigating their envi ronment led her to develop a new system of education in which various aspects of development are stimulated by special pieces of equipment.
