OUTSTANDING students at Burnley College


were rewarded for their efforts at a glittering presentation evening recently, held in the grand surroundings of Burnley’s Towneley Hall. . The College’s ‘Awards for Excellence’ event


is the pinnacle of the year for Burnley College Sixth Form students and thirty five of the highest achievers were presented with trophies to recognise their success in front of proud family members. The sparkling glass awards were presented for


high academic achievement as well as personal accomplishment and success" in national competitions. There were also awards for the- Sportsman and Sportswoman of the year. A variety of special guests attended the event


including the Mayor and Mayoress of Burnley, Leader of the Council, Gordon Birtwistle, head teachers and senior staff from partner organisations and members of Burnley Borough Council. Deputy Chairman of the College Governing Board, Ken Collins, hosted the event. Two former students, Charlotte Holden and Farouk Miah presented the awards.
