the Millennium, the Kings Cross Hot Club (KCHC) is a unique gathering of two former street musicians, gypsy guitarist Phil Grispo and rhythm guitarist Bruce Beach, abetted by an impressive array of clas sically trained musi cians, wandering min strels and an actress- turned outstanding lead vocalist. With their focus on

Gypsy swing, augment ed by a powerful brass section and expertly exe cuted orchestration, the band has been trans formed into an in- demand live act. To see and hear for yourself what makes the KCHC so special, get along to the St Mary’s Centre, in Church Street, Clitheroe for 8 p.m. next Friday, November 23rd. One of Africa's hottest musical exports has a local weekend date

ONE of the h o t te s t acts from Africa will perform in Preston this month as part of a UK tour. Vocal group Ladysmith Black

Mambazo, pictured above, were rocketed to international fame after being featured on Paul Simon’s massive 1980s album Graceland.

Since then they have enjoyed a

huge following worldwide for their thunderous and beautiful har monies that glide like deep, warm ocean currents. Mambazo’s captivating Zulu

harmonies are a proud, strong homage to the jubilance, power and beauty of indigenous music

and to their South African home land. They will perform at Preston

Guild Hall on Saturday, November 17th, starting at 7-45 p.m. For ticket availability and prices, call the box office on 01772 258858 and for more on the group, visit their website at: www.mambazo.com
