The Kibble's journey from source to sea

A PLAQUE marking the River Ribble’s journey from source to sea is now in situ ,>at Edisford.


' -The idea for it came from the Rotary Club


of Ribblesdale whose members were search­ ing for inspiration for something to perma­ nently mark the centenary of Rotary Inter­ national. Using part of their name seemed a good


idea and a small team of Rotarians agreed to take the project forward. - The club’s first vice president, David Frost, designed the plaque, the location was

Civic helping hand FUNDS were raised for three separate charities during the Ribble Valley Mayor’s lunch at the Moorcock Inn, Waddington. Coun. Mary Robinson’s charities, for


which she has been raising funds during her time as mayor, are Brain Research, Cancer Research UK and the Life Educa­ tion Bus, which offers advice to children at junior schools throughout the Ribble Valley.

a) i) to divert part of Bridleway No. 9, Gisbum, Borough of Ribble Valley, mnning from a point approximately 20 metres to the west of its junction with Public Footpath No. 12, Gisburn, to the west of Gisbum Coles Farm, (GR. 8047 4772), in a general easterly direction for a distance of approximately 465 metres, (to GR. 8092 4777); and

b) i) a route be created from a point approximately 20 metres to the west of Public Footpath No. 12, Gisbum, Borough of Ribble Valley, to the west of Gisbum Coles Farm, (GR. 8047 4772), in a general south-easterly, then east-north-easlerly direction for a distance of approximately 470 metres, to rejoin Bridleway No. 9, Gisbum, (GR. 8092 4777); and


b) ii) a route be created from a point on Bridleway No. 9, Gisbum, Borough of Ribble Valley, to the west of Gisbum Cotes Farm, (GR. 8047 4772), in a general north-easterly direefion for a distance of approximately 20 metres, to rejoin Public Foolpath No. 12, Gisbum, (GR. 8048 4774); and


c) to extinguish that part of Public Footpath No. 12, Gisbum, Borough of Ribble Valley, from a point at its junction with Bridleway No. 9, Gisbum, immediately to the south of Gisbum Cotes Farm, (GR. 8053 4774), iii a general southerly direction for a distance of approximately 40 melres, (to GR. 8053 4770), :

a) The part of Public Footpath No. 101, in the Parish of Sabden, Ribble Valley Borough, from a point approximately 138 mebes to the north-west of its junction with Sabden Road, Sabden, (GR. 7557 3614), in a general north-westerly direction for a distance of approximately 207 metres, (to GR. 7541 3623), (to the north of Hollins Farm), and then in a general south-westeriy, then north-westerly direction for a distance of approximately 360 metres to a point at its junction with Clerk' Hill Road, Sabden, (GR. 7507 3637), will be stopped-up; and
