Jane is now a black belt!
A MARTIAL arts expert from the Ribble Valley is celebrating after achieving her black belt in taekwondo. Jane Hindle (25), of Simon-
stone, has been training in the Korean art for the past five years and has now reached first dan status. A member of Burnley Taek
wondo Club, Jane (pictured) is considered to be an inspiration, having triumphed in the sport despite being profoundly deaf. Her mother, who wants to
thank the club for the support given to her Jane, praised her daughter’s motivation, which
she believes is a credit to the deaf community.
She said: “Jane is very keen
and very disciplined. The sport is beneficial to her in many ways, especially the self- defence side.” (T160105/4)

BUDDING footballers at Whalley Pri mary School were able to show off their fancy footwork just like their favourite soccer idols, thanks to a professional coaching session. Former Clarets player Ashley Hoskin
spent an hour at the school to give some professional football tips to a big group of Year 3 pupils. Over the next few weeks, Ashley will be
visiting the school on a regular basis and coaching various age groups. Commenting on the sessions, head
teacher Mr Brian Beresford said: “Foot ball is a very popular sport and children have been extremely excited about them. “In fact, one parent said his child was so
excited th a t he was up at the crack of dawn cleaning his football boots! “The sessions enable children to work
with Ashley, who has a high standard of football knowledge and possesses profes sional coaching qualifications.” Ashley (centre) is pictured with the

in public places are over. As well as the fines, I have also issued numerous warn ings. Ribble Valley Borough Council is committed to protecting the environment and tackling the problem of dog fouling in public.” There has been a 30% increase in com

requires dog owners to pick up their pet's mess, with fines of £50 if they don't and up to £1,000 if a culprit is taken to court. The fines were issued in the Littlemoor

Other dog fouling hotspots in Ribble Valley include: Chester Avenue, Faraday Avenue, Standen Road, Woone Lane, Taylor Street and Henthorn Road, Clitheroe; The Arches, Whalley; Mardale play area, Longridge; and the villages of Mellor and Wilpshire.
