Pumas go down fighting against strong opponents

Whalley Under 15s ....................................................4 Gl Harwood Rovers....................................................8

WHALLEY Pumas went down fighting in this encounter at the hands of a strong Great Harwood side. It looked very bleak for the locals as they quickly

found themselves 2-0 down after just five minutes, with Harwood looking in the mood to run up a crick et score. A scoreline of 6-0 at the interval did not bode well

for the second half and two more were soon added after the re-start. Then a bizarre defensive mix up by the away side

allowed Ahsan Iqbal to steal in and put Whalley on the scoresheet. Somehow this acted as a remarkable catalyst for

what was an electrifying 20 minute period from the Pumas. First Sam Townend pulled a second back and then

Declan Fitzhenry to look very shaky indeed. Whalley had two more excellent chances but failed

to convert before time ran out. Pumas' centre half Chris Eland was deservedly man-of-the-match.
