NEW mum Katherine Blebta was so keen to take her son Jamie to baby music classes that when she found out there were none in the Kibble Valley, she decided to start her own. So during the ne.xt two weeks, Katherine

and baby Jamie will launch “Kindermusik” classes for babies and toddlers in Clitheroe, Whalley and Wilpshire. Katherine, who is the first licensed Kin-

dermusik teacher in Lancashire, said: "Babies and toddlers love music and have so much fun trying out new activities to differ ent songs and exploring instruments.

"I really wanted Jamie to have this oppor

tunity and, although the training course was hard work, watching his face as we have practised together has been worth every effort. He loves it." Katherine (34), a clarinet and piano

teacher, researched various different music programmes before deciding on Kinder musik. "It was easy to choose really because Kin

dermusik was the only one that I, as a mum and a musician, would want to take Jamie to," said Katherine, of Langho. "Parents get a CD with all the songs on,

as well as a story book and activity books based on the theme of each course. That was another thing I liked about Kindermusik - its fundamental belief that although educa

tors can guide, it is mums and dads who are always a child's best teachers.” Kindermusik is a worldwide programme

with more than one million families in 35 countries involved, but Katherine is the first licensed teacher in Lancashire. Katherine and Jamie will be running a

baby and a toddler class at Holy Souls Parish Centre, in Wilpshire, on Monday afternoons, at Clitheroe Library on Wednes day mornings and at Whalley Village Hall on Friday mornings. There is also a free demonstration class for

each age group tomorrow at Clitheroe Library. Any mums, dads, grandparents or carers who are interested can call Katherine on 01254 245767 or check out her website (www.kindermusikwithkatberine.co.uk).

Civic guest for former nurse on her birthday

A KIBBLE VALLEY woman’s 90th birthday was full of surprises. Mrs Evelyn Wrennal, of

Cranewood Farm, Cowark, received a surprise visit from Kibble Valley Mayor, Coun. Mary Robinson, and a visit from her sister, Mickie, from Somerset. Born in Ellesmere Port,

Cheshire, Mrs Wrennal moved to the area at the age of 17. She worked as a nurse at

Calderstones Hospital until she retired in 1964. Loved ones and friends

packed the Dog and Patridge pub. Chipping, to celebrate the milestone birthday. Mrs Wren nal received lots of cards and bouquets of flowers and her son, John, said he wanted to thank everyone for attending and making the day special. Mrs Wrennal is pictured
