MEMBERS of Clitheroe Lady Farmers’ Social Section met at Ferrari’s restaurant, Longridge, for a cookery demonstration and meal. Owner Susan and her son,


Tino, as helper, gave an excel­ lent cookery demonstration. They cooked bread and but­


ter pudding, creme caramel, risotto, lamb, and scallops.


Susan also took into account the allergies of members by altering the recipes to suit, everyone. Susan Whitwell gave the


vote of thanks before supper. In the business meeting


members were reminded of the forthcoming Country Whist and Domino Tournament on Tuesday at Barton Village


Hall and the Country Presi­ dent’s Church Service on Sep­ tember 25th. More than £500 was raised from the sponored walk for Rowland Mountain Rescue. The next meeting will be at the Calf’s Head, Worston, where Bill Honey­ well will be talking about his time on “Who Wants to be a Millionaire”.

CABIN crew members Mr Mark McGahan and Miss Nichola Jane Clarkson were flying high at


their Ribble Valley wedding. The couple both work for Astraeus and are based


at Manchester Airport. Miss Clarkson, an air stewardess, is the daugh­


ter of Mrs Patricia Ann Clarkson, of Billington Gardens, Billington. Her bridegroom, an air stew­ ard, of Rochdale, is the son of Mr Mike and Mrs Stephanie McGahan, of Broad Lane, Rochdale. Given away by her brother, Mr David Clarkson,


the bride wore an ivory satin gown with full skirt and train. She carried a bouquet of cream and pur- pie tulips, cream roses and purple orchids. Dame of honour was Mrs Linsay Clarkson and


other attendants were Mrs Janet Fernandez and Miss Rebecca Carey. Flowergirls were Miss Olivia Fernandez and Miss Alexandra Carey.


The attendants wore purple and lilac dresses Mtl-


embroidered bodices which were laced at the bacli and had purple satin skirts. They carried bouquet; similar to the bride’s. Best man was the bridegroom’s brother, Mi


Matthew McGahan. The couple were married at the Clarion


Hotel and Suites Foxfields where they also held a reception.


Following a fortnight’s honeymoon in the

A HONEYMOON in the Maldives fol­ lowed'the wedding of Mr Walter Aspinall and Miss Kay Pickup. The Clitheroe couple, who were married


at St Helen’s Church, Waddington, had the ceremony conducted by the Rev. Stewart Ridley.


The bride, a customer service officer, who


enjoys swimming and walking, is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Pickup, of Crowtrees Road, Sabden. Her bridegroom, a transport engineer,


who also enjoys walking and football, is the son of Mr and Mrs Aspinall, of Watt Street, also of Sabden. Given away by her father, the bride car­


ried a bouquet of calla lilies and roses. Her dame of honour was Judith Thornber and her bridesmaids were Gwenda WWght, Lyn- dsey Smith, Charlotte Thornber and Poppy
