: The Clitheroe youngster battled on with a back injury, but still performed admirably, despite being unable to scale the heights of her performances last year. The Westholme pupil won bronze in
the shot and silver in the eight-lap race last time out at the National Indoor Arena, finishing sixth overall in the individual ratings. But, restricted by a nagging back
, problem, Anna (pictured) finished 32nd. Put in context, in an event that starts
out with around 300,000 competitors, it was still an impressive achievement. Competing in the four-lap race, shot,
vertical jump, Anna’s best performance was in the eight-lap race where she and her Lancashire team-mate finished in
fifth plaace. • Despite her personal disappointment,
she thoroughly enjoyed the occasion
again. However, physio treatment and
holiday commitments could now see her miss the county combined events, North of England combined events, and the AAA championships.
