increasingly popular and 30,000 “hits”, are recorded every week, says the Easter newsletter. As head Mr Adrian Aylward

A BOOST to young people’s sport in the Ribble Valley was given by the Mayor, Coun Mrs Joyce Holgate. She handed out cheques to a large group of
young people who have excelled in a wide spectrum of sporting activities. The money, of various amounts ranging
between £500 and £100, goes to help the young people with their training needs, travel
ling costs to competitions or cost of equip ment. Top award went to teenage junior world
champion canoeist Jonathon Schofield, of Sawley. Other cheques went to boys and girls who
excel in netball, modern pentathlon, cricket, swimming, athletics, biathlon, javelin, ski-ing and tennis. Pictured is Coun. Mrs Holgate with Laura

New ambulances hit the roads
F IFT E EN new-generation emer gency ambulances are on the road m the county. Lancashire Ambulance Service
has taken delivery of the new vehi cles and staff have been trained in th e o p e ra t io n of th e fa c i li tie s , which include ta i l l i f ts and hydraulically-operated stretchers. The vehicles, which, when fully
equipped, cost some £90,000 each, carry the very latest.m lifesaving equipment, including 12 lead ECG machines which can tra n sm i t
