Proms hits high note Tapsell 8 West by Natalie Cox
PROMENADERS kept the flags flying for a musical evening in Clitheroe which
really hit the high notes on Saturday. Presented by Clitheroe Town Council, the
Last Night of the Proms event at the Castle bandstand has become a firm fixture on many Ribble Valley residents’ calenders.
This year proved no exception with 1,875
people - including audience members, musi cians, singers, VIPs and marshalls - attending the event. Another 300 prom-goers enjoyed the event, watching from outside the desig nated area. Among those who enjoyed a packed pro

Joining them for the occasion were the Mayor and Mayoress of Ribble Valley, Coun. Alan and Mrs Susan Yearing, Mr David Morris, the Chief Executive of Ribble Valley Borough Council, and local MP Nigel Evans. Civic dig nitaries from Longridge, Ripon, and Skipton were also among those who gathered at the Castle venue. Members of Clitheroe Town Band, con
