A-level delight for students and
THERE were smiles all round as the AS and A-Level successes of Clitheroe Royal Gram mar School Sixth Form
pupils were revealed. The months of waiting
were brought to an end when the 17 and 18-year- old pupils received their crucial marks. There were many success
stories, with most of the pupils having secured a place at their favoured uni versities. Mr Nigel Spooner, the
amount of pressure these days on exam grades and I pay tribute to the immense amount of commitment shown by the teachers and students. “They are to be congrat

follows. Pupils who achieved

Celebrations for stunning set of results at QEGS
STUDENTS a t Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, Blackburn, produced a stunning set of A- level results, says headmaster Dr David Hempsall. There were a number of remarkable personal
successes too, with some 10 students achieving A grades in every subject they took. Among them was Salil Kumar, of Old Langho.
He achieved top marks in all three A-level exami nations he sat - biology, chemistry and mathe matics. Salil will shortly now be taking up the offer of a
place at Leicester University, where he will read medicine. The overall pass rate for QEGS students was
98.1%. And more than 84.4% of entries gained passes at grades A to C, the highest percentage recorded at the school in recent memory.

Help for students is available on the web
STUDENTS with questions about their exam results, or need ing guidance on how to formally follow up inquiries, can now find answers quickly through Exam Zone, a new student-dedicated website created by awarding body Edexcel. The new service, which
includes a telephone helpline, provides students with informa tion on the exam process, what their results mean and answers questions on how to proceed if they have any queries. I t also has useful links to other sites includ ing the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS). Jerry Jarvis, Director of Gen
eral Qualifications a t Edexcel, said: "Students and parents need
advice and guidance during what can be a very stressful time. Exam Zone will help them find the information they need and steer them in the right direction. "For security reasons and to
adhere to the rules of our regula tor, we are unable to provide results over the phone and all for mal inquiries after results have to come from the school or college. However, the website will help people understand the process and equip them with the knowl edge so they can follow the cor rect channels." The site
www.examzone.co.uk
was developed with exam officers, students and parents to ensure the right questions are being answered.
